I have noticed some people using the singular noun followed by' one of the /one of my' I would like to point out that the phrase 'one of ' should be followed by plurals and the verb which follows should be singular.

For example: One of my friends is a doctor.
One of the legs of the dog is hurt.
Here are some books. Please select any one of the books.
