While writing any sentence when you feel that there is no need for any particular word because it is not necessary for comprehension you leave three dot ...(Remember only THREE). These full stops are used in place of the missing word or words.

The ceremony honoured Muralidharan ... visiting India (from Srilanka who was is left out)
Sometimes Ellipsis is also used indicating a pause in the sentence
Ravi cried and cried ... and then cried some more.
