Difference between 'News' and 'Tidings'

Tidings also means news, but it has now chiefly a literary use.


Sample Usage

News
1. What's the news,Hari ?
2. They awaited news of the outcome.
3. He is no longer news in the fashion world.

Tidings
1. The glad tidings was received with acclamation by the anxious multitude.
