Difference between 'Part' and 'Portion'

Part
Part means a section.

Portion
Portion means a part taken from a whole for allotment.


Sample Usage

Part
1. A part of my duty here is to look after the child.
2. We spent part of the time at home and part at the seaside.
3. He divided the cake into three parts.

Portion
1. What portion of your father's property have you received after the partition.
2. Read this portion of the book.
3. A portion of salad.
