Omission of -- A / An

1) A /An:

--> As a rule usage of 'a / an ' is omitted before plural nouns.

--> Again it is not used before uncountable nouns.

--> Its use is also omitted before names of meals that is breakfast,lunch etc. But 'a' is used when it is some special meal or when the meal is preceeded by an adjective.



Sample Usage

---> An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
---> Eating an apples daily is good. ---> wrong.
---> Eating apples daily is good.-----> right.


--->Do you take 'a' sugar in your coffee?---> wrong.
--->do you take sugar in your coffee?-------> right.

--->Only 'an' idiot believes in superstitions.---->right.
--->Only 'an' idiots believe in superstitions.---> wrong.
--->Only idiots believe in superstitions.--------> right.


--->I was invited to a dinner by him.----> wrong.
--->I was invited to dinner by him.------> right.
But----> I was invited to 'a' dinner organised for the minister.----> Here 'a' has been used before 'dinner' to specify the occassion of a special meal.

----> We had a dinner at ten.---->wrong.
----> We had dinner at ten.------>right.
But---> We had 'a' very good dinner at ten.---->right.-----> 'good' is an adjective preceeding the noun 'dinner'.
