To be in the same boat (or to be all in the same boat) means that all the people involved are facing the same problem or testing situation.

Sample Usage

1. When the cracks appeared in the building façade, all the tenants had to evacuate and look for new homes. Now they were all in the same boat.

2. When the flights were cancelled due to foggy conditions, the passengers of various airlines were all in the same boat.
