Fly off the handle

This idiom is generally used in relation to a person.

When we say that somebody flew off the handle, we mean that he lost his temper and became extremely angry about something.


Sample Usage

1.Our coach flies off the handle every time someone makes a mistake.

2.The CEO flew off the handle when he heard that the workers were going on a strike.

3.The student provoked the teacher so much that he flew off the handle and slapped him.
