Difference between Hoard and Horde

Hoard is a verb.
Meanings: save; store; amass; accumulate; collect; put away; hide away
- Antonym is to throw away.

Horde is a noun.
Meanings: crowd; large group; mass; multitude


Sample Usage

Examples of Hoard:
1. The businessman hoarded his illegal earnings in the false ceiling of his home.
2. The Govt. warned the public that those who hoarded rice stocks would be arrested and fined.

Examples of Horde:
1. A horde of people gathered at the local church for the midnight mass on Christmas Eve.
2. People gathered in hordes to watch the fireworks display organized by the Mayor.
