Stoic means seemingly unaffected by or indifferent to emotion, pleasure or pain.

Stoic is a adjective.

Synonyms: dispassionate, impassive, self-controlled.

Antonyms: emotional, passionate.

Tip: The Stoics were members of a Greek school of philosophy that believed people should be free from passion and should calmly accept all occurrences as an unavoidable result of natural order or divine will.


Sample Usage

Mr. Ravi was stoic when he lost his home, but when they tried to repossess his sports car he threw a temper tantrum in the middle of the street.

You don't need to be stoic. Everybody needs to have a good cry now and then.
