Fire and brimstone

'Fire and brimstone' which means 'fearful penalties'. Brimstone means sulphur which burns in flames. It is mythically believed that the hell is made of sulphurs. In hell, great fires devour the souls of the sinners, and the phrase fire and brimstone actually refers to hellish punishments.
