Concrete Nouns can be sub-divided into four groups.
1. Proper Nouns 2. Common Nouns 3. Collective Nouns 4. Material Nouns

Examples of Proper Nouns:
Govind,Akbar,John,Delhi,Everest,Africa,Ford(car),Brooke Bond (tea). These are all names of particular persons, places or things. They are called Proper Nouns. The Proper Noun may be defined as the name of a particular person, place or thing and it begin with a Capital Letter.
Examples of Common Nouns:
boy,king,river,mountain,tree,chair,cow. These are all names that can be applied to any one of a class of persons, places or things. Such nouns are called Common Nouns.
Examples of Collective Nouns:
a crowd of people, a herd of cattle, a team of players, a flock of sheep, a squadron of aeroplanes. The words in italics are names of groups of persons or object of the same kind, considered as a single whole. Such a group name is called a Collective Noun.
Examples of Material Nouns:
gold,silver,clay,stone,cotton,wood,iron,wool. These are names of materials or substances out of which things are made. Such nouns are called Material Nouns.
