Persecute
To persecute is to harass or oppress.

Prosecute
To prosecute is to bring before a court.


Sample Usage

Persecute
1. The Kabuli money-lenders persecute their debtors in a heartless fashion.
2. Jews were persecuted in the former Soviet Union.

Prosecute
1. He was prosecuted on a charge of tresspass.
2. He was prosecuted for theft.
