  • Is internship necessary?

Hi, I am studying in 3rd year in electronics and communication engineering. My friends told me that getting an internship now will be very valuable in future and also will help in getting placed. I was wondering if i should do it now or final year would be better? will it be of any use?

  • Hi!
To my knowledge it is important to get an internship. It's better if you do it in now then to wait for the final year. You'll get less time then.

  • Yes, your friend is correct. In today's context, before actually doing permanent job, you should be ready for it. And now, it is very easy to get into internship. And plus, it will be very good for your future.

And even if you start with your internship from the 3rd year also, it will not effect your studies, plus you never know; you may bag a good job, from where you will do your internship.

    Honesty is the best policy.

  • Though it is advisable, to have an interns experience, but it is not at all mandatory. If you are having enough time and money then you can surely go for interns.

Best of luck for your placement, which soon be arriving at your college.

  • Hi,
In today's era of liberalisation and economic growth , competition is becoming increasingly cut-throat and intense. It has become quite essential for students to have practical exposure while still in college. Employers are demanding more, and rank, internships as an essential part of ones resume besides looking for good communication skills in a candidate.
Surely one can get an excellent job opportunity by without doing an internship, but the knowledge one gains due to internship will ensure a head start over the others. Universities and colleges have now made it compulsory for students to participate in internship programmes as part of their curriculum. Internship helps to gain knowledge about general work functions and learn more about industries and fields that are of interest to you. It helps to build vital career related skills such as organisational written and interpersonal communication skills and internship experience is becoming a must have for obtaining a full time positing after completion of the course.

There are some things that money just cannot buy, like manners, morals and intelligence.

  • I can advise you from my personal experience that it is very necessary, and important too.
Try to grab the chance as many times as you can, as there are benefits in this.
1.You will loose the fear of the company scenario etc when you will be ready for the placements.

2.Having internship adds up to the professional qualification and there is no harm in upgrading the qualification.

3.We learn many new things there at the time of internship which will help in the development of communication skills.

    4. You will learn that which is the most hot language, domain now a days and which technology is used very often.

  • Internship is not compulsory for any graduate. But going for intern will have the following benefits:

First, internship help's a student to visualize practically various process that he studied during his theoretical class thereby reducing the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge.

Secondly, it helps students to learn the environment that prevails in industry.

Thirdly, the student gets to know the various advanced technologies that are presently used.

Fourth, he gets to know the duty reporting of various levels in a company.

Fifth, he is assigned a task given by the company, thereby he learns his time management and the depth in that task.

Sixth, the student has a chance to gain stipend for the task he is doing. (Only some companies provide stipend)

Seventh, the student gains more contacts and friends which will be good for a long term.

Eighth, he gets a value addition in his CV which will reflect during his final placement.
