    Looking for easy to make fast cooking recipes? Get a wide variety of such recipes for all types of meals from our expert cooks!

    I want to have variety in what I cook. I am fed of eating same breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please share few quick recipes. Note that I cannot spend a lot of time in kitchen as I am having a little daughter. Sweet, salty, spicy any kind of recipe you know how to make and is simple and quick please share here. Do not post links to various sites, they have either some expert type cooking ways or their ingredients are hard to find. So please share what you have tried in your kitchen and found quick, simple and tasty.

    I can share two recipes with you. One for the breakfast and one for the dinner.

    Recipe for breakfast
    1.Vegetable Poha
    This is healthy and nutritional breakfast.
    Preparation time: 10 minutes
    Cooking time: 15 minutes

    Ingredients:
    1. Beaten rice/ Poha
    2. Onions-2, sliced
    3. Groundnuts- Soaked overnight
    4. Carrot -chopped
    5. Potato- chopped
    6. Cabbage- Chopped
    7. Green peas
    8. Green Chilli
    9. Salt as per taste
    10. Garam Masala- a pinch
    11. Turmeric- a pinch
    12. Coriander Powder - a pinch
    13. Mustard seeds
    14. Coriander leaves- chopped
    15. Lemon juice- 1 tsp

    Recipe:
    1. Rinse the beaten rice under water and drain it. Keep it aside. The beaten rice should not become too soft or mushy.
    2. Take a pan and add oil. When oil becomes hot, add green chilli, mustard seeds. When the seeds start crackling, add the sliced onion. Saute the onions, till they become translucent.
    3. Now add the soaked peanuts. Fry them for 2-3 minutes. Then add all the chopped vegetables. Stir them nicely and cover it for 3-4 minutes.
    4. After the vegetables become soft, add all the dry spices. Mix them well.
    5. Now add the beaten rice/poha. Stir it well.
    6. Add the salt and stir it well.
    7. At last add the lemon juice. Stir it for 1 minute and turn off the gas.
    8. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves(optional).
    9. Serve it hot.

    Recipe for lunch/dinner

    2.Ajwaini Aloo Shimla Mirch recipe
    Serves: 2
    Preparation time: 15 minutes
    Cooking time: 15 minutes

    Ingredients:
    1. Ajwain/ Carom seeds- 1 1/2 tsp.
    2. Shimla mirch/ Capsicum(300gm)- cut in long pieces.
    3. Potato- 2-3, cut in length-wise
    4. Garlic- 15-16 cloves
    5. Tomato- Fresh and pureed.
    6. Salt as per taste
    7. Garam Masala-1/2 tsp
    8. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
    9. Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
    10. Lemon juice- 1 tsp
    11. Oil: 2-3 tbsp

    Recipe:

    1. Take a kadhai or pan. Pour the oil.
    2. When oil becomes hot, fry the potatoes. Remove it and place it on the tissue paper.
    3. Fry the capsicum and drain the excess oil.
    4. In the remaining oil, add the carom seeds. When the seed begin to crackle, add the garlic paste. Stir it for 1 minute.
    5. Add the green chilli and tomato puree. Stir it till the moisture evaporates.
    6. Next, add all the dry spices. Stir it until, oil starts separating from the mixture.
    7. Add the fried potato and capsicum.
    8. Add the salt and stir well.
    9. Add the lemon juice and cook well for one minute. Turn of the gas
    10. Serve it with hot chapati.

    One of the easy and healthy recipes are milk shakes.
    You can have banana or chickoo shake whichever fruit you have.
    Blend the fruit pieces in the mixer with previously boiled milk add sugar and ice cubes and it will be good for health also. Also you can add the health mix like horlicks to it for taste.

    Poha is also one of the nutrient break fast.

    You can make Poha in easy and sweet way so that your child will also love to have it.

    take some
    grated coconut,
    poha
    boiled luke warm milk
    some grated jaggery
    salt

    Mix all the ingredients. Don't pour lot of milk so that it will become more watery. A little bit like 1/4 cup and pour it little by little with spoon and mix it. You can also add fried kismis and cashew nut or different nuts of your choice before serving.

    It is true that daily routine sometimes become boring. As you have a small baby now, it is getting difficult for you to maintain kitchen work and cooking. But it is also necessary for you to eat nutritious food. Here I would like to suggest you some easy to make and yummy to taste recipes:
    1. Veg Cutlets:
    Ingredients:
    Boiled vegetables 1 bowl – (Beans, Carrot, Mutter, Capsicum etc)
    Boiled potatoes 2
    Bread slices 2
    Finely chopped coriander
    Finely chopped green chilli
    Salt
    Red chilly powder
    Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp.
    Oil
    Method: Mash boiled potatoes along with all boiled vegetables. Put bread slices in water for few seconds and squeeze out the water. Mix this crushed bread in potato mixture. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Heat some oil in a pan. Make cutlets of your favorite shapes and shallow fry in the oil. Enjoy cutlets with pudina chutney or tomato sauce.

    2. Egg Paratha:
    It is one more very simple recipe with very few ingredients.
    Ingredients:
    Wheat flour
    Salt
    Oil
    Water
    Make normal roti dough from the above ingredients.
    Make a egg batter my using
    3 eggs
    Salt
    Red chilly powder
    ½ tsp garam masala
    Finely chopped onion
    Finely chopped coriander leaves.
    Method:
    Roll a roti as you do it regularly. Heat a tawa and put roti on it. When it is slightly done from one side, spread some oil on it and roast it from another side. Now spread the egg batter on roti and turn it. Put some oil from all the sides. Spread egg batter on another side also and turn the roti again. Put few drops of oil from all sides. When the egg is fully fried from both sides, remove the hot paratha in a plate. Serve hot with chutney or sauce.

    2 Breakfast recipes that are quick, healthy and tasty. One is savoury and Indian, the other is sweet and continental -

    Moong dal chilla

    Ingredients for 4-5 chilla

    1 cup moong dal (soaked overnight)
    Few leaves of palak or methi
    1 Grated carrot
    2 finely chopped green chilli
    Green coriander
    Salt
    oil

    Method
    Grind moong dal into a paste neither too watery nor too thick. Add salt to taste.
    Heat a pan and smear some oil on it, when slightly hot pour a ladle of moong dal on it and spread like a dosa.
    Sprinkle all the veggies on top.
    After 2-3 minutes turn the chilla and cook on the other side.
    Serve with green chutney/ketchup.
    Note - You can also add boiled and mashed peas to the chilla.

    Pancakes

    Ingredients for 4-5 pancakes
    3/4 cup maida
    1/4 cup whole wheat flour (atta)
    2 tbsp oats soaked in milk (optional)
    1 ripe banana mashed
    1 egg
    1 tsp coarsely pounded fennel (saunf)
    3-4 tbsp milk
    2-3 tbsp sugar
    a pinch salt
    1/4 tsp vanilla essence (optional)
    butter/oil
    little water

    Method
    Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, making sure there are no lumps left in the flour.
    The sugar should dissolve completely.
    Add a little water or milk if you prefer to make the batter into a pouring consistency.
    Spread butter/oil on a pan and drop a ladle full of batter on the pan. Cook on low heat.
    When you find the ends turning upwards. Press down for 1/2 a minute and then turn over and cook the other side.
    The pan cake must have a nice brownish colour.
    Serve plain, or with jam. The right way to serve is with maple syrup. But they taste good on their own too.

    Dal parantha with palak raita
    Ingredients for dal parantha
    Leftover cooked dal (atleast 1 cup)
    Atta 1 cup
    Besan (½ cup)
    Salt
    Chilli powder ½ tsp
    Zeera powder ½ tsp
    Coriander powder ½ tsp
    Garam masala ¼ tsp
    Green chillies finely chopped
    Green coriander finely chopped
    Ajwain ½ tsp
    Zeeraa ½ tsp dry roasted and pounded coarsely
    Kasturi methi (optional)
    Oil/ghee

    Method
    Mix all the ingredients and make into a firm dough for paranthas. Roll out paranthas and fry in oil/ghee. Serve hot or at room temperature with palak raita.

    Palak raita
    1 cup thick curd
    ¼ milk
    10-12 leaves of palak blanched
    Salt to taste
    Zeera powder
    Chilli powder
    Method
    Mix curd and milk until smooth. Adding milk instead of water to the raita gives it a smooth, creamy texture.
    Chop the boiled/blanched palak and add to beaten curd
    Add salt, chilli powder and zeera powder
    Mix well
    For serving, sprinkle zeera and chilli powder on top of the raita to form a pattern.
    The raita can be had with plain roti as well.
    You can make the raita using boiled potatoes or grated and boiled lauki instead of palak.

    I have been through this phase and I can understand how important it is to finish work in limited time. Hope the following recepie will help you:

    Breakfast:

    1. Hungcurd and walnut sandwich

    Take some curd and put it in muslin cloth so that the water from the curd drains out.
    Now put some chopped walnuts, salt to taste and littel black pepper in the thick curd.
    Mix all properly and put it on slices of bread to make a sandwich and you are good to go.

    Its rich in probiotics, protein, goodness of wallnut and tasty too. I often make it.

    2. Rava uttapam for 2

    Take half small bowl of rava and the same quantity of curd.
    Mix both together nicely so that the lumps are all gone.
    Put some salt to taste.
    Leave it for 15 minutes to rest.
    (You can put some tempering too of mustard seeds, curry leaves, ginger, red whole chillies. Tempering is desirable, but its better if you put)
    Now greese a non stick dosa tava with little oil.
    Spread a little batter on tava.
    Sprinkle some chopped vegetables like onion, capsicum, cabbage, etc on it and let it cook from one side.
    Reduce the flame and cover the tava with a round lid, so that the uttapam is cooked through.
    (You can put vegetables in the batter directly also)

    Take it out on a plate and eat with chutney or pickle of your chioce.

    3. Bread pizza

    Chop capsicum and onion.
    Heat a pan on a high flame and put a little butter.
    Put some long sliced garlic and fry it.
    Now put onions, capsicum, corn kernels and fry them on high flame for only a minute. Make sure we dont have to make the veggies soggy otherwise the veggies will loose the crunch.
    Put some salt and black pepper and mix in the vegetables.
    Take all the vegetables out and let them cool down to room temperature.
    Now take a slice of bread.
    Put some ketchup on it.
    Put some part of the veggies that you just fried with a spoon on top of the ketchup.
    Now put some grated mozzarella cheese on top of it. Processed cheese will also do.
    Put this slice on tava and cover it with a lid completely. Cook it on low flame for 10- 15 minutes or till the cheese melts.

    I guarantee, it will fail the market pizza and you kids will love you for this.

    Hi,

    I am also a person not all interested in too much of time spending inside kitchen. So the only solution I found for this is to collect simple and tasty dishes.
    Here are 2 kerala curry recipes which you can cook in 5 to 10 minutes.

    Recipe 1 - Buttermilk curry (Moru curry in kerala/Moru kolambu in TamilNadu)

    Ingredients:

    1. Buttermilk 3 glass
    2. Turmeric powder
    3. Fenugreek powder/ seeds
    4. Jeera
    5. Dry chilli
    6. Mustard seeds
    7. Curry leaves
    8. Green chillies cut into two halves vertically
    9. Cooking Oil

    Method:

    1. Add pinch of turmeric powder, fenugreek powder, Green chillies, salt for taste into butter milk. Mix well and keep aside.
    2. Saute: Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds, dry chilli, curry leaves, jeera.
    3. Add the sauted mixture into the butter milk and heat it. Please make note that it should not get boiled.

    Recipe 2 - Drumstick leaves curry (Murungaikeerai kolambu)

    Ingredients:

    1. Drumstick leaves
    2. Coconut grated
    3. Jeera
    4. Garlic
    5. Salt for taste
    6. Mustard seeds
    7. Curry leaves
    8. Green chillies cut into two halves vertically
    9. Cooking Oil
    10. Dry Chilli

    Method:

    1. Grind coconut, garlic, jeera and keep aside.
    2. Saute - Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds, dry chilli, curry leaves. Drumstick leaves should be sauted lightly.
    3. Add the grinded coconut mixture into the saute.
    4. Add salt for taste and allow it to just boil.

    I will post two recipes which are pretty popular with kids, easy to make and consume less time.

    Recipe 1- Vermicelli Upma

    Preparation time - 15-20 mins

    Ingredients -:

    1) Vermicelli
    2) Onions
    3)Tomatoes
    4) Capsicums
    5) Boiled Carrots & Peas (Optional)
    6) Cashews (Optional)
    7) A Pinch of Red chilly powder
    8) A pinch of Ajinomoto (Optional if you are very health conscious )
    9) Salt
    10) Oil
    11) Chicken Masala - 1 teaspoon
    12) Sugar -2 teaspoon

    Method :-
    In a pan , add some oil and saute/ roast vermicelli in that for some minutes till it turns golden brown. Keep aside.

    In another large mouthed pan preferably kadhai , put some oil. Add onions and cashews, saute till golden brown. Add tomatoes , boiled carrots and peas. Add salt, chilly powder, chicken masala and saute for 2 or 3 minutes. Once vegetables are cooked, add capsicums and saute for another 1 minute. Add water (1 and a 1/2 cup). Put sugar and bring to boil. Simmer it , add roasted vermicelli which you have kept aside. mix it up properly, add ajinimoto. Serve Hot.

    Recipe 2 - Bread upma

    Preparation time - 15-20 minutes .

    Ingredients -:
    1) Bread - 4/5 slices
    2) Boiled Potatoes
    3) Onions
    4) Tomato Ketchup
    5) Curry leaves
    6) Mustard seeds
    7) Green chillies (optional)
    8) Salt
    9) A Pinch of pepper powder
    10) Oil
    [Variation - You can add boiled vegetables like peas, carrots, cauliflower too ]

    Method -
    In a pan, add some oil. Splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves, Add onions and fry till golden brown . Add boiled potatoes, green chillies , a pinch of pepper powder and salt. Saute for 2 mins. Break the bread slices with your hands and put in the pan. Saute till bread are bit roasted. Finally add some tomato ketchup and mix for a minute. Easy, tasty bread upma is done.

    Here I have some easy to cook yet tasty recipes.

    A. Bread pakoda
    Ingredients:-
    1. Bread slices 2
    2. 2 mashed boiled potato medium size
    3. salt
    4. coriander powder 1/2 tablespoon
    5. 2 green chilli chopped
    6. 1/4 tablespoon dry mango powder
    7. 4 tablespoon bread crumb
    8. oil

    Method:-

    1. Combine together mashed potato, salt, coriander powder, chopped green chillies, mango powder, and bread crumb and make two round balls of it.

    2. Now, take a bread slice just dip that slice in water for a second and remove it now squeeze extra water from the slice without breaking it.

    3. Place potato ball between the soaked bread slice and cover the ball from all the side with the bread and deep fry in oil till it become golden brown and serve hot.

    B. Upma

    Ingredients:-
    1. Half cup semolina (sooji, rava)
    2. 1 onion chopped
    3. 1 potato diced in small cubes
    4. Roasted peanut
    5. chopped green chilli
    6. salt to taste
    7. 1/2 cup curd
    8. 1/3 table spoon mustard seeds

    Method:-

    1. Dry roast sooji in a pan for 5 minutes on a slow flame and then keep it aside.

    2. Now take oil in pan add mustard seed when they will start splutting then add chopped green chilli, saute it then add chopped onion saute it become light golden brown then add potato saute cook it then add salt and curd and give a good stir.

    3. Now, add sooji cook for a minutes and add 2 cups of water then on high flame cook it for a minute and then remove it from from heat sprinkle peanut and serve.

    Oats dosa:

    Just take a packet of Saffola classic masala oats small packet, grind it with water and make batter of dosa consistency. Make small -small dosa on the dosa pan make it small than normal dosa to make it attractive.
