How is multi task staff in the Government departments recruited?

Eligibility criteria and recruitment procedure for multi task staffs

Since many years, the post of a peon has been abolished in the Government departments. Instead, multi task staff is recruited. How are such recruitments made? What are the eligibility criteria and recruitment procedure for such posts? Are such recruitments made through the staff selection commissions?

Nowadays the Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) are appointed by various recruitment agencies of the Government like Staff Selection Commission (SSC) or Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) through the competitive examinations held for this purpose. The eligibility conditions are of SSC are:-

    (i) A citizen of India/A subject of Nepal or Bhutan/A Tibetan refugee/A person of Indian origin displaced from Pakistan,Bangladesh or Kenya, Uganda, etc.
(ii) He/She should have qualified Matriculation degree or equivalent examination prior to applying for the particular examination.
(iii) He/She should be not less than 18 years of age or more than 25 years of age on 1st January of the year of the examination. (Age relaxation is available for SCs/STs/OBCs/Physically Handicapped/ex-Servicemen/Widows/Displaced persons from J&K, etc.)

The eligibility conditions for RRB examinations are almost similar.

Beware! I question everything and everybody.
