Is it possible to do MCA after BE and what exams are required to be done for it?

Planning to do MCA after B.E.? Know from experts if it is possible to do so and which exams you need to appear for.

I am doing B.E. in CE. After completing it, can I do MCA? If yes, what kind of exams are required for it?

MCA is meant to be a postgraduate degree for the BCA students. However it has been pursued by the students of non technical degrees too. Most of the education that you see in MCA is covered in degrees such as computer science, electronics, electrical, IT. So those engineering students don't need to do the MCA degree.

However degrees such as civil, chemical, structural engineering need to learn IT specific skills using MCA or other master degree such PGDCA or DOEACC level course.

You can appear for the MCA. There is an examination before you can apply for the MCA course. Based on the entrance exam and the available college you can get the admission for MCA. There is only entrance exam and nothing more in the process for some of the universities.

MCA is a post graduate degree in Computer Application, the duration of which is three years. Normally the aspirants having acquired BCA course, B.Sc(IT) or B.Sc (computer science) choose this course for specialization in different field of computer application.
Since you are doing Engineering in computer engineering, this course would be nothing but sheer wastage of time. If so much interested, you can undertake Java - programming, Oracle, C++, SAP etc for some renowned institutes like NIIT, APTECH etc for the enhancement of your chance in getting employed. However, if you are an Engineer with a civil engineering background, you can think of your admission in MCA, but at the same time you have to ensure that the institution so chosen is a reputed one offering you chance for campus placement. They normally conduct written test followed by oral to screen out candidates. Hence a thorough preparation from end would be required.
You may resort to alternative rout by taking training in some language being offered by some institute of repute with the enhancements of other skills such as proficiency in writing and spoken English and should be able to represent the facts with an effective way.
