  • We all know that eggs are produced in poultry farms with hens caged and force feed to increase the production of eggs. This all happens in normal egg production system where there is no control over what material we feed and the number of times we feed the hen. The only out come we bother is that how many maximum eggs are produced by the hen.

The organic egg production differs in the environment that we breed our hens, the material of food we feed to hen and the forced molting that is common in natural egg production is not practiced in this system. Let's take a close look at different parameters.
    • Environment: Hens in organic egg production are only breed in outdoors but not in cages.
    • Feed: Hens are fed with organically cultured feed or naturally occurring feed. Cross hybrid crops are not suitable for feeding hens in this method. Also, the crops that were intended to produce feed must not use any artificial fertilizers and pesticides.
    • Molting: Molting is a common process in chickens where hens stops egg production temporarily for two to three weeks in the due course it rejuvenates its reproductive system and sheds old feathers to replace with new ones. In natural egg production hens are force molted by stopping feeding. This causes all the hens to molt simultaneously and decrease the molting time. In Organic production, hens are allowed only to naturally molt so that hen's health is not effected.
    • Antibiotics: Hens are only induced with low level antibiotics that too in a rare case if some infection outbreak. This ensures good health for hen and that healthiness is automatically reflected in egg quality.

Organic Egg production ensures that we do not force hens for our purpose of egg production which reflects in good health of hen also the best quality egg can be naturally obtained.

  • Organic egg production is the production of eggs through organic means. In this process, the poultry are fed organic feed. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, organic means that the laying hens must have access to the outdoors and cannot be raised in cages.[1] Organic egg producers cannot use antibiotics except during an infectious outbreak. Only natural molting can occur within the flock; forced molting is not allowed. Organic certification also requires maintenance of basic animal welfare standards.

  • In order to have the organic eggs, special care are being taken to hens so that the eggs obtained from such hens are free from the effects of excess antibiotics and the pattern of food offered to such hens is of superior quality maintaining the organic standard of the feed. Such hens are not kept in the cages while laying the eggs but rather they are provided the open environments.
Molting aspect of the hens are also cared of. The hens stop production of eggs for two to three weeks and again the cycle resumes and in that way, there is rejuvenation of its productive system. This is also an ideal time for them to shed old feathers in order to have new ones'.
By adopting such method, we can ensure the best quality of eggs - productions since forced production is not involved. The hens do enjoy perfect health and the eggs so produced are of superior quality.

  • The word organic is used not only in eggs now a days its used even in vegetables also. But any way organic eggs is the production of eggs through organic. That means the poultry are fed organic feed. According to the USA department of agriculture the hens must be grown at outdoors than putting them in cage.
Organic egg producers cannot feed low-level antibiotics to the poultry, antibiotics are given only when they are affected by any infection or diseases.

  • With the rise in the demand of organic farming and the requirement of organic food, the demand of organic egg has also risen. The simple theory behind this is that organic food is more suitable for human health compared to the traditional food. Organic eggs are definately more nutritious and safe compared to other eggs because the eggs obtained through organic farm technique are more rich in nutrition contents. The hens are given special treatment and good surrounding is provided for their living. They are not set in cages and proper food is given to them in return we get good quality eggs. Therefore organic eggs are in more demand.
