How to find out transferred files from laptop ?

wondering how to find transferred files from laptop? On this page check out resolution to your queries.

Someone inserted a Pen Drive to my PC ( Lenovo Idea Pad 110 ) and I have no idea what files have been taken away.
How to find out if what files have been transferred from my PC( Windows 7 or 8) to a Pen Drive?
Can you guide and give step by step details to check which folders/files have been accessed with that pen drive?

By default setup of the PC, it's not easy to find that part out. However there are some of the logging and monitoring application that can find it out.

If enabled in your Windows, you can use the Windows explorer tracker. Once enabled it keeps track of changes in files folders and access. So this way you can find out who accessed the computer.

Here are some of the applications that can be useful for tracking the file changes, copy and access tasks.

    1. Windows Explorer Activity
    2. Process Monitor
    3. Sysinternals File and Disk Utilities
    4. TheFolderSpy

These are some of the application that can be used for accessing the file and folders. You may want to also find the file logging application. This way you can find out if anyone modified anything. It may cost you to use some of such apps. As they are spending time to develop this it may not be for free.

you can view recently accessed files on your computer by :

    1. Windows key + R.

    2. Type Recent.

    3. All recent file will be displayed before you.

There is no such software that has been developed to spy for the transfered files between the computers and external drives.

However, there are certain procedure to protect your privacy. Here are two killer methods to lock and hide files for both basic and advanced users.

    1. Encrypt your HDD partion using Bit Locker Encryption tool.
    2. Command Prompt: Hit the Windows start button + R.
    3. Type "CMD" without quotes & run as an Administrator.

    To hide files, type:
    attrib +s +h C:\Music

    To unhide files, type:
    attrib -s -h D:\Docs

This is just an examble. You can change the address of "Music" and "Docs" as per your prefrences. Additionally, you can also add the URL address of the file if you want to hide them.

These are the line of codes to protect privacy.
Both the lines of code works in Windows 7 and Windows 8 Operating System.

Hackers never learns but always wins!
