Am I eligible for CSIR UGC JRF net exam if I do M.Sc Physics through distance or correspondence mode? I am a female candidate belonging to GENERAL Category. What is the age limit to apply for JRF Net Exam? Which are the UGC recognized Universities/Colleges to do the course in distance mode?

    1. The academic eligibility for CSIR-NET is given below:-
BS-4 years programme/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MBBS/Integrated BS-MS/M.Sc. or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks for General & OBC (50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates). Candidates enrolled for M.Sc. after having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

    2. The age specification is indicated below:-
    (a) For JRF (NET): Maximum 28 years (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants).
    (b) For Lectureship (NET): No upper age limit.

So, if you are pursuing M.Sc. from a UGC-recognised University, you are eligible to appear in CSIR-NET. For JRF. A female candidate is eligible to apply for JRF upto 33 years of age.

If you mention the name of your University, it can be checked whether it is UGC-recognised, or not.

There are more than 500 universities all over India which are approved by UGC. Generally speaking, you may take admission in M.Sc.(Physics) conducted by IGNOU or conducted by the Open University of the State you reside. These two will definitely be approved by UGC.

The supplementary question and my supplemetary answer have been deleted. Why? Both the supplementary question and the suplementary answer were fully relevant to the main question and answer. Ridiculous!
