Benefits for SC/ST given by Government of India

Some of the benefits given to SCs and STs in India are as under:-

(a) Reservation in appointment in Government jobs. (except in military and judiciary)
(b) Reservation in promotion in Government jobs except in military and judiciary)
(c) Various welfare schemes relating to food security, housing.
(d) Reservation in Government educational institutions for study.
(e) Fee waiver in Government held examinations (both in competitive examinations for recruitment and in competitive examinations for admission in educational institutions).
(f) Age relaxation in appointment and education.
(g) Free coaching for various Civil Services examinations.
(h) Various welfare schemes for benefit of SCs/Sts.
(i) Making untouchability a criminal offence (Although this is not a special benefit)
(j) Creation of special statutory bodies, i.e., National commission and State Commissions who look into the complaints of discrimination against SCs and STs.

The benefits given to the SCs and STs emanate from the Preamble of the Constitution of India.

For SC and ST, in Marriage bride and groom gets 50000 Rs if is inter cast.
There are lot of free government hostels for students and lot of free shelter places for ST and SC community people.

As India's PM Narendra Modi said in speech at ceremony or any occasion that this government is for poor people include SC/ST category.
1. Provide scholarship to college students to those who get min 55% in last qualyfying exam on the basis of course of the cadidate.
2. Free supply of stationary for class VI to XII to ST( scheduled tribe) /SC(scheduled caste) and those who have BPL card.
3. Free hostels facility provided in government colleges to SC/ST category.
4. Provide reservation to needy or poor people including SC/ST category and To those who have BPL card.

Benefits for SC/ST s in competitive exams:
1. Relaxation in age and also in cut off marks for different government exams.
2. Less application fee or no fees compared to general category candidates.
3. Reservation of seats in exams for the candidates.
4. Also there is a reservation if you get the job and then get a promotion which will be faster compared to a general category candidate.
Benefits for SC/ST s in social welfare:
1. Allowance for SC/ST s by different schemes either by state or central govt.
2. If they are under poverty line they got BPL category for SC and STs.
3. Also get benefits in housing and in food security bill.
