The eligibility criterion would be reckoned as on 31st March of the year of examination . Your ward completes 14 years on 20.05.2023 and falls short of 50 days to become eligible to appear for the 10th CBSE exam in 2023. The Principal of the KV/the CBSE school are authorised to recommend to condone the shortcoming upto a period of six months and it won't be a big deal to worry.
CBSE itself does not fix the age criteria. The candidate appearing for the examinations should satisfy the age limit set by the state or union territory and applicable to the geographic area where the school is located. To be eligible the child's minimum age should be 14 years and maximum age would be 16 years for regular students. Most of the advise that is followed is as per the guidelines issues by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Your child would fall short by close to two months. There are many students who are a few months short and still qualify for the cbse 10th exams. The important factor is if the child has taken CBSE exams in the previous years without a break, then there wouldn't be a issue.
In CBSC schools the age limit for admission to class 10 is taken as that decided by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
As per their guidelines the minimum age as on 31 March of the year in which admission is being sought to class 10 is 14 years. Similarly the maximum age is 16 years.
The principal has power to recommend for a shortfall upto 6 months. Your child will be taking admission in class 10 in the year 2023 and as on 31 March 2023 he will be falling short by only about 2 months for becoming 14 years. So it will not be an issue.
