  • Integrated Professional Competency Course (IPCC) is the exam conducted as a second level exam for CA course. Before you pursue the course you need to register with them through online. Generally every year it will available two times and in this year, 2018 registrations are open in May and November. Registration does not imply that you can straight away appear for the exam. It is just registration with their board. The registration process differs with different states and you need to pay fees for the same. You need to carry all original documents along with the print out of online application form for verification.

You can follow the link below for the procedure of application and the fee schedule

The exam schedule is released every year and since you are still in the first year you have plenty of time to prepare for this exam and am guessing that your B.Com course is 3 years duration meaning which you will finish in 2020/21. Remember that they have removed the old system of OMR sheet based application forms from this year (2018) and you need to apply online only. This year the exams are held in May and November and hope it will be same (a month prior or further) by the time you finish your course.

    Good Luck

  • Hi Shreya,

As you have not mentioned anything about CPT, I'm giving more details about the CA course

    Different Stages of CA
There are basically 4 stages in Chartered Accountancy (CA) course.
    1. CPT
    2. IPCC
    3. Article-ship under any practicing CA
    4. Finals

    Who can appear for CA?
Any student who has passed 10th class or any course equivalent to that can apply for the Common Proficiency Course (CPC) and there the Journey begins.

IPCC has again 2 Groups. Each Group has multiple subjects. You can appear for the each Group individually or both the Groups together.

IPCC conducts twice every year in the month of May and November. Generally schedule will released 2 months before the Exam date. You can reach out to any of the local institutes in your city to know more about it.

Feel free to revert in case if you need any additional details.

  • You are in your first year B.com and want to know about IPCC which is a part of the pathway to become a Chartered Accountant (1.registration,2.CPT,3.Intermediate course,3.Practicals4.Final exams)

First is to register yourself with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Once you are registered it is valid for three years.

In your case, you NEED NOT take the common proficiency test-CPT exam. There is a direct entry route for commerce graduates with 55% overall marks, so once you are in the Final year of the B.com, you can register and enroll in the intermediate courses. Next is a one month of orientation course after which you will register for practical training(three years). After nine months of practical training, you can appear for the intermediate exams (which you are enquiring about). If you wish you can move on the complete the final exams after 3 years of practical training and be qualified for registration as a CA.

IPCC is the integrated professional competence course. In this course, you have Group 1 exams (4 papers - accounting, law, cost and management accounting, taxation) and Group 2 exams(4 papers- advanced accounting, auditing, enterprise information system & strategic management, finance economics & management).

These exams are held starting from the first week of May and November every year, you can get details from common education sites, icai website etc.

You still have time, you can focus on your B.com studies because a good basic knowledge from B.Com would be helpful for your IPCC and CA.
