  • PhD course will be taken up after completing the Master's course. But for professional courses some universities allow graduates also for PhD course. I suggest before going for PhD you should complete your post graduation in the related field. These days to get admitted to M Tech, a good score in GATE is required. So you first concentrate on GATE exam. If you get a good score you can secure a seat in PG course with fellowship in a standard institute. Try to concentrate on GATE. Once you are through, you can join in a good institute for your PG.. Once you complete your PG you can think of further studies or a career in a good Organisation. Many public organisations and R&D organisation of government wil give jobs basin on GATE score. So GATE score is very important for study or job. Go ahead for that.

  • Generally after completing post graduation one has to register for PhD. One has to get a good guide under whom one can pursue the research work.

There are many universities where admission for PhD is given to the qualifying candidates. The past academic career also plays a vital role in it. While interviewing they will also try to find out whether you have aptitude for research or you ate simply joining it as a stop gap arrangement.

Anyway you have to apply in good universities and pursue your PhD program sincerely.

  • To be Ph. d graduate you need to complete post graduation that is master's degree or else must have completed engineering on the subject you prefer. After you complete the above graduation then you have to follow some few regular steps to enroll yourself for Ph. d.
    1) Eligibility completion or going to complete BE/B.Tech. or ME/M.Tech. in Engg (any branch including CS/ECE EE/Civil/Inst./Biotech.) or B.Arch. or Master's degree in Science/Maths/IT/ICT/Computer Science or MCA.
    2) Select the university which you wish to enroll for Ph.d.
    3) Follow their rules for registration. Most probably all the universities have an entrance exam to qualify for this degree.
    4) There will be two papers
    Paper I: General aptitude paper
    Paper II: Subject paper
Paper I will include basic aptitude, logical reasoning, basic questions on mathematics.
Paper II will include ECE Paper Syllabus: Networks, Electronic Devices, Analog Circuits, Digital circuits, Control Systems, Signals and Systems, Probability theory and random processes, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing,

  • For applying or registering for PhD one should have either a post graduation or engineering degree in the subject in which one is aspiring to do PhD. There are many institutions offering PhD either through regular or correspondence mode. If your subject is practical oriented then you should take care that the institution where you are applying has the requisite facilities especially if it is a correspondence type.

The candidates registering for PhD are required to have secured at least 55% marks in their engineering or post graduation. Some institutions may also conduct entrance exam for the selection of the candidate though many of them short list the candidates on the basis of GATE score or percentage acquired in the eligibility qualification.

If you have an aptitude for research and can handle a large amount of input data then you can very well complete your research in the topic selected from your area of core strength that is the subject you have studied during engineering or post graduation.

    Knowledge is power.

  • Generally, a student with good marks in Masters degree and having interest in research work applies for PhD. Nowadays many universities offer M.Phil degree before registering a student for PhD. At the beginning of the academic session, universities seek application for registration in full-time/part-time PhD.

In some cases, universities conduct entrance examination prior to registration. In some cases, the willing candidates are required to submit the outline of their intended areas of research. NET-JRF qualified candidates are eligible to get fellowship while they conduct their research study.

  • Eligibility for Ph.D. in ECE is M.E/M.Tech with good marks. Some institutes admit the student with good score in B.E/B.Tech and very good score in GATE exam.
Selection for Ph.D. is based on the performance in written test and interview.
So the first step is to get admission in M.E/M.Tech.
If you are GATE qualified then you can try in good institutes. Many private engineering colleges admit students without GATE score for M.E/M.Tech.
During M.E/M.Tech decides in which field you want to do Ph.D. and work on research projects and publish papers in international journals like IEEE etc. This will help you to get admission in Ph.D.
After you M.E/M.Tech you can join in academics or industry and then do Ph.D. in part-time mode.
Do Ph.D. from reputed institutes (IIT, NIT or BITS) only as they have good research facilities and good professors. Do not do Ph.D. in distance mode as it is not having any value and will not help you in any way.
