  • It is good that you are already started playing in regional matches. As you are in 11th class, start playing in your school team and participate in tournaments through school. Interdistrict school competitions and then interstate competitions will be happening. If you perform well in interdistrict school matches you will get noticed and you will be selected to state-level tournament from your district. Once you got a chance in interdistrict tournaments and perform well, you will have better chances to get selected next level. All depends on your performance in the matches.

  • If you already play good cricket and are aware of the intricacies of this game then you can definitely progress in this line and make it as your professional career. You can also think to join a good cricket academy or coaching centre to sharpen your wits in this game.

As you are already started playing regional matches you can think of trying to get opportunity to play in interstate or national level matches. for this you have to contact the cricket club managers or match organisers so that you can get a chance to participate in some good match. After seeing your performance in the same they can consider you for other matches and slowly you can make your network with these managers and organisers for further progressing ahead.

Please remember there is a very high competition in this field as the successful players are suitably remunerated in this arena. So you will have to put up a lot of hard work and efforts to excel in this line. You have to focus yourself to be one of the top players of the country and aim for the highest level performance.

    Knowledge is power.

  • You need to have more practice to play in the regional team. The first step is to play good amount matches in the school team. Likewise, you will get noticed by the sports teachers and will get encouraged for playing in the regional team. Once you pass through school team, you can get into play into the state team which needs more amount of hard work. Successful cricketers came from state teams and then went on to play for the National Teams. The Cricketers like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble all came from state teams with the good amount of practice and work.

Though there is a lot of competition in the world of sports one can with sheer zeal and hard work carve out a career for oneself.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

  • I think you have to shift your base to the state capital. Thereafter you are required to join any reputed cricket academy or start playing in the domestic cricket. You have to do it in another 2-3 years. If you can establish yourself as a good cricket and with little bit of luck, you can start playing state-level first class and limited-over cricket in another 3-4 years. Thereafter you have to move upward crossing one after another hurdle. These hurdles or stiff competition can be overcome only by honing your skill by hard labour over the years.

Best of luck to you. Try your best.

  • I think cricket as a profession is a good idea. However few things to keep in mind. One being you have to keep the education going. Also you have to find the job as a backup. The reason being cricket alone may not be a long term profession. Considering the T20 has killed the long term aspect of the cricket. The players are having short term stint.

Your approach for professional cricket is fair. You should go ahead and work hard to get selected. And things may fall into the right places from there onwards. But keep your backup planned. Also try to cut yourself into the list of the state academy and get into state level as much as possible. That experience may get you selected for the future national level and international level selection.
