Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the National Eligibility Test on behalf of the UGC, hence also known as CBSE NET.
For this year, the tests are planned on 8th July 2018 but the last date for enrollment was closed on 12th April. You can plan to take it next year if you are in the final year also, wherein you are selected would be provisional pending submission of completion of MA and the marks being at least 55%. This is relaxed to 50% for reservation category.
This will enable you to junior research fellowship and eligibility for AP in colleges and universities. You can choose AP eligibility only or both.There are around 91 centers in the country. The format for 2018 would include
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN PATTERN 2018. The pattern of the exam has been modified from three papers to two papers this year. But the patter of the paper/content is the same.
Paper -I: 100 marks (general-50(2 marks each)objective type questions), Paper-II: this is 200 marks papers (this is the old 2 & 3 and will have 100 questions) - English/ subject related objective questions. To be considered for the next round you need a 40% aggregate in the above. All questions are compulsory.
