In the context of what Rao Sir has said, kindly consider studying in one of the established deemed Universities, where the standard of education is very good.
Since there is a huge competition, it has become relatively easy for students from all over the country to enter into any of the three big and very famous deemed Universities of Tamil Nadu, for the B.Tech course. These three Universities are the VIT University, the SRM University, both of which have huge campuses in Chennai city., and the SASTRA University, which is based in a town called Thanjavur, around 300 kilometers from Chennai. VIT 's main campus is in a town called Vellore, which is superbly connected by buses that ply every five minutes from the Koyembedu, Central Bus Station, which is there in the heart of Chennai.
Please do note that these three Universities have their own entrance examinations. Though I do not know about alternatives in Punjab, given that the standard is so good here and thousands from your own State do come down to study in each of these Deemed Universities, you can try them.
There are two more Deemed Universities, where the placement record is okay, once again in Chennai. One is called Vel's University, and the second is called Sathyabaama University. Please do note that students regularly go abroad after studying in these institutions.
