    About NEET 2018 BHMS & BAMS counselling

    I have scored 316 in NEET. I am from West Bengal. Can I get a government BHMS or BAMS seat?
    Can you tell me about application procedure and counseling process?l do not know about counseling process?

  • Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a graduate degree awarded after 10 + 2 study of five and half year. Ayurveda consists of two words: Ayur means life and Veda refer to knowledge. An applicant should have completed 17 years on or before the 31st day of December of the year of admission. Similarly, BHMS is Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery, The same conditions will apply for BHMS also.

    After you NEET examination you will be informed through the advertisements for attending the counselling process giving the details of dates on which one has to attend the counselling based on his rank. The list of candidates who qualify for counselling should report at venue, date and time mentioned on the website at the time of declaration of results.
    Biometric fingerprint and image verifications of the candidate will be done on the day of counselling/certificate verification. If there is a mismatch, the candidate will NOT be permitted to attend the counselling and they may opt to proceed with legal action deemed fit by the Institution.
    It is mandatory for the qualified candidates to appear before the Counseling Board in person. No relaxation will be given to candidates who are unable to appear before the Counseling Board on the fixed dates.
    In case of a tie between two or more candidates having equal marks/Merit, the inter see a ranking of such candidates shall be determined by the following factors in the following order of preferences:-
    Candidates with higher aggregate marks in qualifying examination.
    Candidates older in age.
    The applicants should submit the following certificates along with one set of self-attested copies.
    Hall Ticket
    Rank card
    10th class mark sheet
    12th class mark sheet
    ST/ SC/ OBC/PWD category certificate
    Domicile certificate
    Medical Fitness Certificate
    Migration Certificate
    Four Passport size colour photographs identical with the photograph uploaded in the application.
    Downloaded copy of the provisional selection order
    The allotment of the seats shall be made by merit of Common Entrance Test. The applicants can opt for the BAMS /BHMS course as per his/her merit during counselling.
    During subsequent counselling, the seat will be allotted as per the merit of the applicants depending on the availability of seats on that particular day.
    An applicant who fails to attend the Medical Examination on the notified date will forfeit the claim for admission and placement in the waiting list except permitted by the competent authority under special circumstances.
    The name of the student who remains absent from classes for more than 15 days at a stretch after joining the said course will be struck off from the college rolls without giving any notice.
    Your rank appears to be good and chances for you to get a seat in government colleges are appearing to be better. But we can't say surely about the admission till the last minute.

  • Any one who passed NEET exam can apply for BAMS, BHMS or any courses related to medical side. Since you have scored a good mark in NEET exam you can apply for that through counseling. You will definitely get seat. But you should be strong in your determination either BAMS or BHMS. BAMS is about ayurvedic medicines and surgery and BHMS is about homeopathy medicines and surgery.

    For counseling, you will need certificates which are qualifying your 10th pass, 12th pass,
    proof for residence,
    proof for birth,
    proof for category,
    Medical certificate issued by a authorised doctor.
    Take copies of these certificates along with your passport size photographs for extra.

  • After the clearance of the NEET - examination, you can apply for either BAMS or BHMS course subject your minimum scoring so as to be fit for the counselling for such streams. Your scoring in the final test would determine your eligibility criteria for such courses.
    You have to choose your career in any of the fields depending upon interst for such courses since there is not any possibility of changing over the same once you finally choose the course.
    The duration of the courses for both will be around five and half year including the internal ship.
    You will have to produce the photocopies of the following testimonials during the stage of councelling.
    Hall tickets,
    Rank - card,
    Your mark - sheets for both class ten and twelve,
    Migration - certificate,
    Domicile - certificate,
    Your caste - certificate indicating your SC/ST/OBC status
    Proof of residence,
    Your birth certificate representing your age as recorded in your other certificates.
    Your Physical - fitness offered by a gazetted Medical - officer.
    Apart from all the photocopies as indicated above you have to produce four coloured copies of photos in the passport - size.
    You will have to report on the same day in your alloted timing on the venue of counselling.

  • 1. You are keen on BHMS is bachelor of homeopathic medicine and surgery, BAMS is bachelor of ayurvedic medical sciences. The expected cut off for BDS is said to be around 425-450 (not reliable), if you have any reservation, keep your options open.

    2. Eligibility for BHMS/BAMS
    50% marks in 12th with PCB option, completed 17 years.
    Based on the NEET score and the marks scored in the 12th, candidates will be selected for the next step, which would be group discussion/interview.
    From this score a list of candidates will be chosen for counselling. Here please make sure that you attend the I and II rounds of counselling and keep a look out for the waiting list.
    In West Bengal, you have the WBJEE ( state level joint entrance exam), have you written it?

    3.The documents needed would be

    10th and 12th completion certificate and marks card

    Birth Certificate.

    NEET 2018 Admit Card.

    NEET Rank Letter.

    Counselling Letter issued by the NEET Authority.

    Identity proof

    Passport size photographs similar to that affixed on the online application form ( please keep about 8).

    Optional: If this applies to you, Caste certificate, domicilary certificate and person with disability certificate.

    The dates would be in July 2018. Please keep all the documents ready, download all the revelant NEET letters including rank letters, identity documents etc ready. Be prepared for long queues and crowds at the counselling centers. There will be regular updates displayed, ranking, progress, number of seats alloted and remaining all will be displayed. based on the 50th percentile of marks for the current year, the cut off would be decided. Please remember that the cut off is the LOWER END of the average marks scored and there would be many candidates in the top end.
    Be alert, calm and have parents/brother/sister with you to give you moral support and choose wisely what is given to you.

    4. Do your homework

    You will not have much time to decide on the day of counselling. Before hand make a list of the seats and the colleges available, your choice in order of merit regarding the colleges and the courses. This would make it easy when the seats are actually offered to you when your turn comes.

  • As far as I know, from last year onwards, admission in BHMS and BAMS courses is also on the basis of qualifying the NEET. You have scored 316 in the NEET. So, you have qualified the NEET (50 percentile for General Category candidates) and your rank is fairly high.

    I have no doubt that you would easily get chance to study BHMS or BAMS in one of the top Government Homeopathy or Ayurvedic Medical Colleges of not only West Bengal, but also anywhere in India.
