EPF organization is a central government body or public sector

Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is a Govt organisation. This organisation came into existence in 1952 when the parliament enacted the EFF & MP act in accordance with the directive principles and constitution of India.

EPFO comes under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It is a big organisation and after its inception the people working in different organisations were brought under its umbrella as far as the employee provident fund amount collected every month from the workers/ other officials salaries in various industries and organisations and it's release after the retirement considered. The operations of EPFO cover the entire country and definitely it is a mammoth job to keep a tab on these funds and provide them back to the emoyees at an opportune time.
