  • How to get bank job in Kerala after BCA

Eager to apply for a bank job in Kerala after BCA? Know with expert advice if an MBA qualification through distance mode or some other course would be a good option to pursue to improve your chances of getting the bank job in Kerala.

I have completed my BCA degree, and now I am confused that whether I should take MSc CS or MCA as a higher education option. Can a distance MBA from Bharathiar university help to get a bank job in Kerala?

  • As a BCA graduate, you are eligible for a bank job not only in Kerala but also anywhere in India.
Doing MBA in distance education mode may not be of great help to you in getting a bank job.
What I suggest you is to join a good coaching institute and get trained well for the bank tests. Once you join a good coaching institute you will have exposure to people who are trying for the same job and discussions with them will be of great help to you. You have to concentrate more on the training and you have to work hard. Spend time in answering old papers and model papers. Try to contact somebody who is already selected for the job and take his suggestions in getting ready for the entrance test. Read books and newspapers and update your general awareness and general knowledge.
All the banks will be advertising for officers and clerical posts in the newspapers. Apply for both the posts and get well ready.
If you want to do an MBA it is better to do from a reputed institute so that it will be very useful to you. Otherwise,
after getting a job in the banking sector while working you can study MBA which may not be very helpful. DOing MCA or M.Sc will be useful if you want to continue your work in the core area or for a teaching job. Otherwise, they may not be useful for you to get a bank job.

  • You have already completed the Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) course which in itself is a good course in computer applications. Today in spite of so much expansion the IT sector is poised for more growth and the computer specialists will be in good demand in times to come.

There are many options for a BCA qualified person and the most common and useful is going for MCA degree after it. You can get some mediocre jobs based on your BCA degree but it is advisable to study ahead if you are targeting good salary packets. In MCA you will be learning Computer Networks, System Administration, System Designing, Application Software Development, Enterprise Resource Planning, Web Designing, Development and integration to internet, Daabase Administration, Data Mining and Warehousing etc. After learning these basic ingredients you will have option for specialisation in System Management and Networking, System Development & System Engineering, Application Software Development, Management Information system (MIS), Hardware Technology etc.

After MCA you will have better opportunities for a job as many companies are hiring the MCA post graduate degree holders. There are reputed companies like TCS, Infosys, HCL, Cisco, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, L & T Infotech, Mphasis, MindTree, Oracle, Quess Corp etc which recruit MCA against their vacancies pertaining to Programmer, Software Engineer/ Developer, System Analyst, Software Application Architect, Technical Writer, Software Consultant etc.

If you do not want to go more in the technical side but are interested in the managerial stream, it is a good idea to go for MBA after which you will have opportunity to try for jobs like Project Manager or Assistant Manager in the software and computer enterprises. You can consider teaching options also after MCA as there is a demand for qualified people especially in the coaching and tutorial centres.

Another option after BCA is applying for Banking Services for which the best course of action is to appear in IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection). This online exam is conducted in two stages - Preliminary and Main followed by interview. Most of the Public Sector Banks participate in this. If you are interested in other banks especially the private ones then you will have to apply there separately. You should have a minimum of 60% score in your BCA to appear in IBPS. The Preliminary exam consists of English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning while the main exam consists of English Language, Essay & Letter Writing, Data Analysis & Interpretation, English/ Hindi, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and Reasoning and Computer Aptitude.

There are many private banks present in Kerala having their branches there and you can apply in them by posting your resume directly or against the advertisements issued by them time to time. These banks are Federal Bank, Axis Bank, City Union Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Centurion Bank Of Punjab, South Indian Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank etc.

Please note that we are in an era of tough competition as a large number of students are contesting for jobs today. So, one has to work hard and put his all efforts focussed in the studies and gaining skills in the course. This will help in campus interviews also. Merit is the essence and is required for success.

    Knowledge is power.

  • Since you have already passed out BCA and for appearing in the Probationary Officers examination in Banking, you need to have a degree of graduation irrespective of stream but you must have secured at least 50 percent marks in the qualifying examination.
If you want to face the Probatiinary - officers examination of the Bank, you will have to clear the written papers comprising Verbal - reasoning, English - comprehension and grammatical portion apart from your sound concept of Mathematics.
Here conversant with the topic is not enough, you have adhere to time - management schedule, it means that within the given time slot, you need to choose the correct answer maximising your yields.
To be familiar with the useful tips and improving upon your efficiency, it would be better to join a professional - institute of such a line providing core - skill to the aspirants. You need to gear your self with such techniques so ultimately you get sucess in the final round.

  • There are some vacancies in the private bank or Government Banks for fresher and experienced person. These vacancies are mostly for Bachelor Degree holders only regardless of Degree or Under Graduate in which stream.

As per your qualification, you are eligible to apply for Single Window Operator or Admin related jobs in any Bank as long as vacancies are there, applied it on-time, called for interview and selected for the post.

You can then study higher degree (Post Graduate onward) either through correspondence or at evening college option if any, in case if the free time suits for.
