You have already completed the Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) course which in itself is a good course in computer applications. Today in spite of so much expansion the IT sector is poised for more growth and the computer specialists will be in good demand in times to come.
There are many options for a BCA qualified person and the most common and useful is going for MCA degree after it. You can get some mediocre jobs based on your BCA degree but it is advisable to study ahead if you are targeting good salary packets. In MCA you will be learning Computer Networks, System Administration, System Designing, Application Software Development, Enterprise Resource Planning, Web Designing, Development and integration to internet, Daabase Administration, Data Mining and Warehousing etc. After learning these basic ingredients you will have option for specialisation in System Management and Networking, System Development & System Engineering, Application Software Development, Management Information system (MIS), Hardware Technology etc.
After MCA you will have better opportunities for a job as many companies are hiring the MCA post graduate degree holders. There are reputed companies like TCS, Infosys, HCL, Cisco, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, L & T Infotech, Mphasis, MindTree, Oracle, Quess Corp etc which recruit MCA against their vacancies pertaining to Programmer, Software Engineer/ Developer, System Analyst, Software Application Architect, Technical Writer, Software Consultant etc.
If you do not want to go more in the technical side but are interested in the managerial stream, it is a good idea to go for MBA after which you will have opportunity to try for jobs like Project Manager or Assistant Manager in the software and computer enterprises. You can consider teaching options also after MCA as there is a demand for qualified people especially in the coaching and tutorial centres.
Another option after BCA is applying for Banking Services for which the best course of action is to appear in IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection). This online exam is conducted in two stages - Preliminary and Main followed by interview. Most of the Public Sector Banks participate in this. If you are interested in other banks especially the private ones then you will have to apply there separately. You should have a minimum of 60% score in your BCA to appear in IBPS. The Preliminary exam consists of English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning while the main exam consists of English Language, Essay & Letter Writing, Data Analysis & Interpretation, English/ Hindi, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and Reasoning and Computer Aptitude.
There are many private banks present in Kerala having their branches there and you can apply in them by posting your resume directly or against the advertisements issued by them time to time. These banks are Federal Bank, Axis Bank, City Union Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Centurion Bank Of Punjab, South Indian Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank etc.
Please note that we are in an era of tough competition as a large number of students are contesting for jobs today. So, one has to work hard and put his all efforts focussed in the studies and gaining skills in the course. This will help in campus interviews also. Merit is the essence and is required for success.
