Can I get admission into MTech Bioinformatics course in India through GATE life science (xl) score? I am a BTech CSE student. Or I should give the GATE exam through Biotechnology paper? Before BTech CSE admission I have dropped 2 yrs for medical coaching.

  • As far as my information goes, B.Tech CSE students are not eligible to join in M Tech Biotechnology. B.Tech. – Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Botany/ Zoology or M.Sc. BioSciences candidates can only seek admission in this course. If you want to do M Tech in this subject first you should complete your B.Tedh with the above-mentioned subject. Then comes GATE subject into question. GATE subject also depends on your B Tech subjects.

  • To join in M.Tech Bioinformatics the candidate should have Bachelor's degree (B.E/ B.Tech) in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised university and GATE Score. GATE subject will depend on your subject in B.Tech. Your GATE score what you have no will be ok for joining in M.Tech. You need not write the GATE again.
My above answer is valid for Biotechnology but not for Bioinformatics. Regret the inconvenience caused.
