BEd or MTech after BTech to pursue teaching

If you have interest in teaching then going for B.Ed. will be a preferred thing. After B.Ed. you can apply in schools even near your place which is a very convenient option. You can alternatively consider teaching in some coaching or tutorial classes which are now a days mushrooming everywhere. In that case you can dispense with the idea of going for B.Ed.

If you go for B.Ed. you have ample time to apply for teaching job as generally in most of the places the upper age limit for that is 30 years.

If you want to get a job in your core area and desire to go for M.Tech. then it is also a possibility. There are many institutions in our country from where you can do a M.Tech. in distance mode. Some of them are -

5. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala.

You can visit the site of these institutions in internet and find out what are the subjects or branches they are offering and you have to select one of your choice from that and decide from which institution you want to pursue your M.Tech.

There are two types of teaching jobs. One is in schools. Here the teacher will teach to students in the schools. For this, you require a B.Ed degree and then you have to clear the competitive examinations in two levels to become a teacher in government schools.
The second one is in Engineering colleges. To become a lecturer in Engineering college one should complete M.Tech. There are many universities in India that are offering M Tech by correspondence course. IGNOU is one such University. Anna University is another one. If you want to become a lecturer with UGC scales you may have to clear your NET exam.
Both BEd and M Tech are two years of courses. Both will make you eligible for teaching posts. You can decide based on your interest.
M.Tech is

I prefer B.Ed for you, If you complete it you can apply for the preprimary & primary, most of the institutions prefer BEd for the teaching profession. You will have ample time to study & taking care of your children. Most of the schools prefer B.Ed & this is mainly preferred by most of the people who want to peruse their career in the teaching side. And coming to qualification or eligibility for B.Ed is Graduation from any recognized University with a minimum 55% score.

The value of B.Ed in India has a very good scope for job opportunities, Just calculate in your district how many schools are there, on an average 5 thousand schools are there in a city. Thus there is a lot of scopes is there in this sector, new schools are coming annually.


Coming to M.Tech, This is also having a 50% scope when compared with the B.Ed sources. This can be done just to do a specialization in your B.tech field and getting core jobs. And you can even go towards the teaching side.

After reading your query, I got engaged in calculations. As per the details you have provided, I guess that you have a gap of around 8-10 years now. After this much gap, a technical field will not be suitable for you. You may go for short term refreshment courses in the field related to M Tech, but again your gap and your age will be drawback points for you in that field.
There are many private and government institutes offering this course through correspondence but being technical in nature, it is not advisable to pursue the same through correspondence that too when you are pursuing this to have good job options.

Regarding B.Ed, if you have core interest in teaching, then only go for it because teaching is a challenging job. But if you really are, then pursuing B.Ed. can be a good option for you. Yes, you can enroll for correspondence also but you have to appear or manage your demo classes as per the schedule the Institute assigns you.

Apart from teaching after investing your money and precious 2 years for B.Ed, I would suggest you join coaching classes. There are a lot of them in most of the cities. There you can teach the subjects of your choice and then the working hours are less and that too flexible. You can manage as per your availability.

Another option is to try in private banks. Nowadays, when banks are getting digital, technical staff is the requirement of all banks and you may try for that.
