  • You can apply for a scholarship at the university you'll be studying. Many universities offer scholarships to meritorious students. You can apply for a scholarship after you get admission, that is the usual process. Get yourself a seat, in a reputed university, and then apply for a scholarship. That will increase your chance of getting a scholarship. Several corporate houses fund education programmes and offer scholarships. Explore those avenues. Check the big names in the industry - Ambani, Tata, Birla, Godrej and the like.

  • In many institutions and universities scholarships are available but they are basically on merit basis. So if one gets admission on merit basis then only chances of scholarships arise. Sometimes there are examinations held for scholarships and based on the performance these are given to the students. At the same time most of these institutions have some quota reserved for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates also and their merit is generally different from the normal list. Some scholarships are given to financially weaker sections of the society also and generally the income limit of parents in such cases should be less than 2 lakhs per annum. In some states in our country, this limit is proposed to be increased to Rs 3 lakhs.

Then there are some foundations which run some colleges or are affiliated to some other colleges as a philanthropic measure and they have some reservations for girl students in different courses. But these mainly offer scholarships to weaker sections of society. For example one such charitable organisation is Sitaram Jindal Foundation in Bangalore which offer specific scholarships for the girls/ women. One can find out from them the possibility of any such help in this matter. Tata Welfare Department is another agency which is also providing scholarship or educational aids to eligible women candidates. Some universities offer scholarships based on the percentile obtained by the candidate in CAT/XAT/GMAT/GRE/NMAT exam.

Some corporates are also sponsoring girls/ women candidates for education under their CSR schemes but this is generally applicable to the area of their operations or in the vicinity of their factories or works etc.
