  • After this technical course that is IIIE, you have options for going either for further technical education like M.Tech. or go for MBA. As you are already in a job in design function in an engineering company it makes sense to go for correspondence courses as that will help you in protecting your job also. If you are not much concerned for this job then going for M. Tech. in regular mode is also a good option. Anyway, you have already shown your inclination for the MBA by correspondence mode. I think that is a good choice as many organisations require people having a technical background plus management degree for running their day to day technical and managerial activities.

There are many good institutes in our country from where you can have your correspondence MBA. Some of them are Annamalai University, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Sikkim Manipal University, ICFAI University, IMT Ghaziabad, Narsee Monjee, Madurai Kamaraj, Tamil Nadu Open University, MDU Rohtak University, Amity University and Lovely Professional University.

There are many specialisation streams in which one can do MBA and seeing your interest and liking you can choose from Marketing or Human Recourse Management (HRM) or International Business (IB) or Operation Management or Supply Chain Management. There are some other streams but seeing your background I have not mentioned them though from job loin of view they are equally important and effective. These are Finance, Rural management Information Technology, Agribusiness, Health Care etc.

    Knowledge is power.

  • Since you have completed your degree of Engineering from IIE which is recognised at par of the degrees of any Engineering - college recognised from an university.
Now to maintain an edge in this competitive market, either of the two can be opted for ie M.Tech from a renowned university or to have a MBA degree from the distance education mode which should be in no way inferior to regular ones. This option would suit you because of your present assignment. Persuasion of M.Tech calls for total involvement for this course in the regular mode and hence not feasible.
There are certain distance education modes and if chosen one of these, you would not suffer in terms of course - content for the chosen MBA course. The following are some of the known distance education mode universities such as
    1) Indira Gandhi National Open University
    2) Annamalai University
    3) Jadavpur University
    4) Sikim Manipal University
    5) Tamil Nadu University
    6) Karnataka Open University etc
However, I would suggest you to join IGNOU because of their quality - content course apart from their guidance for the removal of doubts by the learned professors in the session conducted by them.
Choosing the appropriate stream such as Marketing, HRA, IT, Hospitality - management etc should be done as per your inclination or as per organisation - needs.

  • After completion of IIIE you can go for both courses MBA as well as M.Tech. if you are interested in MBA, then you should prepare for CAT exam. That you can do simultaneously with your job. After cracking CAT, get admission in a reputed institute.
But if you don't want to quit your job, you can do MBA from distance learning. It is also a better option to enhance your subject knowledge and administrative and managerial skills.

  • From Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) you have obtained your graduation and presently working in a company at Pune as a design Engineer. A good degree and good job. Congratulations to you.

Once you are in a job and further you want to pursue your further studies, first of all you should take a call on which area you are interested in. You have management jobs and you have technical jobs. If you slowly get into management jobs from technical jobs, the best option is to go for an MBA from a well known and standard institute. If you are interested in pure technical jobs you have to go for M Tech or MS. First of all you decide on the line you want to continue and then select the course.

MBA: MBA is a very good option. But your certificate should be from a reputed institute. There are many normal institutes which are offering MBA. But they are good for showing in the CV. But it will not fetch a good job for you.
