  • What to do when PAN card is lost?

Are you facing a problem about loss of PAN card? Want to know how to issue a duplicate one? check out this page for understanding the detailed procedure for issue.

One of my friends has lost his PAN card. He remembers his PAN card number. He even has a xerox copy of his PAN card. For some of his Id proofs, he is submitting xerox copy of the xeroxed PAN card.
Will he need to apply for a duplicate PAN card or can he manage with the xerox copy? Can he apply for the duplicate PAN card online? Will the duplicate PAN card have "Duplicate" written on it or will it be same as the original one? What to do when pan card is lost?

  • # Xerox copy of PAN card may not be useful everywhere and every time, so it is better to apply for a duplicate PAN card.

    # Yes, we can apply for a duplicate PAN card online.

    # The duplicate PAN card won't mention that it is a duplicate card. It will be the same as the original one. But the concerned bank will record that a duplicate PAN card has been issued to you.

One does not need to panic if he has lost his PAN card. The government provides an option to reprint a card in case it is lost. To get a reprinted PAN card, with the same PAN number, please follow the following steps-

    1. First of all, log into the official website of TIN-NSDL and go to the section of online application for PAN.

    2. After that choose the option "Reprint of PAN card." You can choose this option if your card was lost, stolen or misplaced.

    3. After you click on the link mentioned above, you will be redirected to a different page where you need to click on the link, "Online Application for changes or correction in PAN data."

    4. On clicking the link mentioned above, you will be redirected to a page which highlights the guidelines as to what needs to be done next. After reading these guidelines, you need to choose the PAN that you have lost (individual, company, firm, HUF, etc)

    5. Now you need to fill up an application form for the lost PAN card. You need to provide details like the lost PAN number, name, communication address, email id, verified phone number, etc. Other documents like photographs and Identity proof need to be submitted along with the lost PAN card application form. The applicant is expected to sign the form before submission. If he has chosen Aadhar based eKYC option, then there is no need for any physical document.

    6. The applicant can submit the lost PAN card application form either online or post to NSDL along with the necessary documents.

    7. Approximately, Rs 110 needs to be paid (if the communication address is within the country) or Rs 989 (if communication address is outside India) either through debit/credit card, demand draft or net banking.

    8. An acknowledgement number will be generated after successful payment which can be used for further correspondence.

    9. In about two weeks, a duplicate PAN with the same PAN card number will be delivered to the given address.

    Hope it helps.

Make love to life before it divorces you.

  • In case the PAN card is lost then one can get a new card through the streamlined online procedure on payment of a fee which is around Rs 100 only. To initiate the process of applying for a duplicate PAN card one has to visit the Govt site https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/correctiondsc.html and then fill the form which is meant for corrections but same can be used for duplicate card also. Fill or tick as the case may be the complete form and then submit it along the other documents like Aadhar card etc and pay the fee online. Once this part is done you will get an acknowledgement number which you can note down for future reference. Now you will receive the duplicate PAN card within 10-15 days. If you do not get it then you can again go to the same site and can track the card whereabouts by etering the acknowledgement number there. You can also print a copy of the acknowledgement slip.

Alternatively, if you are not able to pay the fee online then you can send the fee by demand draft along with a printed copy of acknowledgement slip to the NSDL office at Pune and they will send you the duplicate card. Please affix a photograph on the acknowledgement slip and sign it also. The address of NSDL office is -

    NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited
5th floor, Mantri Sterling, Plot No. 341
    Survey No. 997/8, Model Colony
Near Deep Bungalow Chowk, Pune – 411016

  • It is so simple. First of all write a letter to the department about the loss of your card. Then approach the service provider of your city for getting another card. For this one 'Integrated enterprises private limited',a service provider who have branches in all cities and town. They will guide you properly for getting a pan card.

  • https://www.integratedindia.in/ is the website through which you can locate their office in your or near your area and contact in person for solving your issue easily.

  • He can use the xerox copy at the moment till he get the re-print of the same PAN card from the concern organization. Most probably it won't have mentioned as 'duplicate' as concern shown by the author.

You can visit the NSDL website or its article at https://www.tin-nsdl.com/services/pan/pan-index.html for applying for a Reprint of PAN Card.

Since he has a xerox copy of it, he can very well remember / see the PAN number while applying it. So, it will be an easy process to do so through online source.

  • No need to worry. Once a Pan card generated, the soft copy is sent to the recipient email address and that is the exact replica what the person going to get an as hard copy by the registered post. And the soft copy which is always there in the email can be taken out and got printed again. And correspondingly the department can be approached for the duplicate issue of the PAN card. But what I feel that as long as the number of the Pan card is in the possession and having the xerox copy of the same, that will suffice the future needs and still if someone wants the duplicate they can apply for the same.
