Can any candidate apply from other state in Sikkim University entrance?

Sikkim University is an approved institution under UGC and any student from any state of India can apply for entrance test to PG courses there. So in your case as you belong to West Bengal, you can very well apply there as per the online application procedure and accordingly appear in the entrance exam.

Undoubtedly, you can apply for Sikkim central university geography entrance exam. It doesn't matter whether you are from Sikkim or other State. Any student from any state can apply there. It is an entrance exam for admission in UG, PG or other Courses only.

A candidates with requisite qualification and percentage of marks / CGPA provided is eligible to apply for admission to UG and PG programmes in various departments of Sikkim University. If you are fulfilling this criteria you are eligible to apply.

There are total 27 seats in MA/M.Sc. Geography in Sikkim University.
Reservation for admission in UG and PG Courses is as follows:
1. Out of these 27 seats, two seats shall be reserved for students from Jammu and Kashmir on supernumerary basis.
2. In UG and PG programmes, 10 % seats are reserved for foreign nationals provided that they are allowed to visit and stay in Sikkim and granted visa by Government of India.
3. 10 % seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) as per UGC letter dated 18.01.2019 on submission of income certificate.
4. 10% weightage will be given to already registered students of Sikkim University.

Any student from any state can apply to. study in this university. A weightage of 10% will be awarded to the students of Sikkim University. So the students of that university have to enter university registration number already awarded to them while doing their UG. But the people from other universities and other states will be selected based on the marks they scored in the Common Admission Test.

Sikkim Central University was established in the year 2006. All the colleges in the state of Sikkim are affiliated to Sikkim University. This university offers a number of courses for UG, PG, PhD students and anyone from India can get admission in this University. Even you can take admission in Sikkim Central Univeristy. It doesn't matter if you are from West Bengal.

It is to be noted that in order to get admission in PG courses in Sikkim University, candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with 50% marks. Relief of 5% marks is given to SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.

The applicants of PG programs have to go through a Common Admission Test (CAT). The questions would be of 100 marks out of which it is necessary to score 50% in order to qualify the CAT. After this, on the basis of performance of students, a merit list is prepared. Then the names of qualified candidates would be uploaded on the university's website and also in the respective department in the university.

Some points to be kept in mind are as follows-

1. Common Admission Test for all PG courses will be held 5 test venues that are Gangtok, Siliguri, Guwahati, Namchi and Geyzing.

2. The registered students of Sikkim University will be awarded a weightage of 10% for the purpose of preparation of merit list of PG courses. The registered students need to enter university registration number already awarded to them.

3. Common Admission Test is conducted by the university followed by interview and group discussion for admission in MBA program. Those candidates who have valid CAT, MAT, C-MAT score will be exempted from entrance exam.

Students can apply for PG programs for a total of 34 courses in Sikkim University.

It is important to note that University's CAT examination of 2019 will be held on November 26.

After that, click on admission link at the homepage and carefully read the admission notice and prospectus for admission related information such as department details, course details, course duration, availability of seats, vacany status, minimum eligible criteria, fees, infrastructure etc before applying online.

3. Then click the apply button to go through the admission process.

4. Now fill up the admission form online. The General candidates need to pay Rs 700/- and SC/ST/OBC/PWD need to pay Rs 350/- for cost of admissiom form and CAT fee through online payment gateway or bank challan at any branch of State Bank Of India.

Sikkim Central University is an approved university having UGC affiliation and hence you can persue your further studies further with the said university despite your continuation of studies from West - Bengal.
You need to fulfill the following criterias so as to be eligible for PG courses -
1) You must have secured at least 50 percent marks in the graduation - level.
2) For others such as SC/ ST/ OBC and other weaker section of the societies - a relaxation of 5 percent is offered.
Some of the seats are reserved for the candidates hailing from Sikkim State and the same is 10 percent where as in your case, the same concession is not permissible.
3) You will have to pass CAT containing 100 marks and you need to secure at least 50 percent marks in the written test so as to be eligible for the further test ie oral test. In oral, the Board would assess your overhaul potential.
In case, you qualify in all the parameters as stated above, you will be inducted in the course chosen by you.
Altogether, there are 34 PG courses imparted by this university for which admission is entertained.
You will have to submit the prescribed fee along with admission in the form of Demand - draft to the university - department for PG. For general candidates, the fee is Rs 700 and for other candidates belonging to SC/ ST etc the applicable fee is 350.
In respect of intake of students for Geography in PG, the available seat is 27 including two seats for the candidates for Jammu and Kasmir.
