  • Radiology is one of the exciting and interesting medical courses which utilises the usage of imaging to treat the disease available in the body.
    Radiology - field is basically divided into two areas namely diagonistic radiology and international radiology.
    A radiographer produces radiography of patients with the help of X- Ray to find the exact medical condition of the patient. Apart from X - Ray, a radiographer also considers CT Scan, Ultrasound and MRI for producing Radiography.

    The career and job oppurtunities in the field of radiography are extensive. The demand of the radiographer shad on the higher sides recently with the development of technologies in the medical - science.
    In India, radiographer can work both in the government and private hospitals in both the forms full or part - time.
    The minimum eligibility criteria fo taking up the courses for certification, Diploma and Graduation is 10+2 passed from a recognised Board.

  • After doing class 12th with science one can go for a certificate, diploma or graduation in Radiology. There is a continuous need of the Radiologists in the medical industry and it is a good profession as a career. Depending on the course one will be appointed as a technician or Radiographer or full fledged Radiologist in a lab or hospital. Radiologist has a wide spectrum of activities in handling X-ray, CT scan, Sonography, PET, MRI, CAT scan etc and his job is a very responsible and technical skill job.

    The certificate course is generally a short term course and is available as Certificate in Radiography, Certificate in Radiology Assistant and Certificate in Radiography Diagnostic. Diploma course is of 2 years duration and can be done as Diploma in Radiography and Radiotherapy or Diploma in Radio-diagnostic Technology. Degree course or Bachelor course is of 3 years duration and is known as B.Sc in Radiography or B.Sc (Hons.) in Medical Radiotherapy Technology. After graduation one can also go for PG diploma in Radiotherapy.

    After doing the graduation one has to apply for license to work as a Physician cum Radiologist. The license is provided only after qualifying in a two part exam. One has also to go through sufficient resident experience to become an authorised Radiologist.

    Radiology has emerged as a big area as in many diagnosing or treating methods it is used. There are specialised branches of Radiology in medical field and some of these are Breast-imaging Diagnostic imaging, Genitourinary, Cardiovascular radiology, Emergency radiology, Radiation oncology, Gastrointestinal, Nuclear radiology, Neuro-radiology and Paediatric radiology. The person who is pursuing Radiology as a career must abreast himself with the Biology and human anatomy.

  • The candidates who completed their 12th Class/ Intermediate with Science subjects can join and get a certificate/ diploma/graduation degree in Radiology. After graduation one can go for PG Diploma also can be done. These courses are very good and there is a good demand for these candidates.
    One can opt for a certificate in Radiography, Radiology Assistant and Radiography Diagnostic. The diploma is for two years. The degree is for 3 years. The certificate holders, diploma candidates and graduates can work in the following positions. A graduate can register himself as a Physician cum Radiologist. But he has to get qualified in an examination after putting up some service.

    All the government hospitals, private hospitals, diagnostic centres, medical colleges and training institutes for radiologists will have positions for the qualified people in this line. Once you get some expereince you can start your own diagnostic centre. You can work on a part-time basis in more than one diagnostic centre also.

  • A Radiologist is a doctor who has specialized in diagnostic radiology or oncology radiation. He/she clarify and shed light on the illness through the use of x-rays, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine and even perform procedures such as an angiogram or biopsy.

    One needs to be a graduate in medicine i.e. an M.B.B.S and pass different sets of examination or candidate's rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
    a) DNB: Diplomate of national board is a 3 years course after MBBS
    b) MD: Doctor of Medicine is a 3 years course after MBBS
    c) DMRD: Diploma in medical radio diagnosis is a 2 years course after MBBS
    d) DM Interventional Radiology or Doctorate of Medicine(3 years course)
    e) DNB Endovascular & Interventional Radiology or Diplomate of national board (3 years course)

    Note: Only (a) DNB or (b) MD Radio diagnost are qualified candidates are eligible for super-speciality courses (d) DM Interventional Radiology and (e)DNB in Endovascular & Interventional Radiology.

    Fees: The normal or averages fees varies from institute to institute and ranges between Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 8 Lac
