  • 1. Thiruvananthapuram is having very good hotels at affordable prices. They are very safe.
    2. Anatapadmanbha Swamy is very attractive and one should visit that temple without fail. This is in the center of the city. Taxis are available to go there. This temple is very near to many of the good hotels and you can even walk down to the temple. There is a dress code for the people to visit this temple. The required clothes will be available on rent and you can get them and after darshan, you can return it. I have visited this temple two times and it will take a maximum of 3 hours to have a good darshan.
    3. Kanyakumari is about 95 km from Trivandrum by road. There are trains from this place to Kanyakumari. The distance by train is about 87 Km. There are buses also. You will get taxis also. My personal opinion is to hire good Innova and go by road. You can visit all the places comfortably. I have gone to this place with my family on the road from Trivandrum. The road is good. Please visit the Vivekananda rock memorial also here.
    4. From Trivandrum to Madurai, the distance by road is about 316 Km. By train, the distance is 300 Km. The aerial distance is about 200 Km. There are three direct trains from this place to Madurai. There are many direct buses from this place to Madurai. Kallada Travels is one of the famous operators operating buses from this place to Madurai. There is a flight also from Trivandrum to Madurai.

You can complete your site seeing in Trivandrum and then Kanyakumari. Once you finish these two places you can go by bus or train to Madurai. From Madurai, you can go back to your place.

    5. Ola and Uber cabs are available in this place.

  • You can have a nice and comfortable trip and stay at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
I hope you would have booked your train/plane tickets by now to reach Thiruvananthapuram.
The city has many hotels at affordable rates.
The convenience of the city is that the main railway station and the main bus terminals are very nearby-in fact just opposite to each other. The interstate bus stand to Tamil Nadu (Kanyakumari) is also in the same vicinity.

Hence I suggest you book a hotel near that place. The place is called Thampanoor. You can search the net and book a suitable hotel taking a cue from the feedbacks from earlier tourists.
There are many restaurants in that area. Some of the hotels have restaurants on their premises too.
The place where the main bus stand and main(central) railway station are there is called Thampanoor. Thampanoor will be the ideal place to stay as it is easy to reach everywhere from there and also many hotels and restaurants are there. Padmanabhaswamy temple is very near to the Main bus stand and Central Railway station. You can go by auto. If you are interested in walking, you can go by walk also. It may be about 20 mts walk. The direction is easy and by main roads.
There is the office of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) in the vicinity of the Bus stand and Railway station in Thampanoor, Tvm. KTDC is operating daily package tours for local sightseeing and to Kanyakumari etc.
Otherwise, also many travel agents can arrange a taxi for your customized travel.
You can go to Kanyakumari by regular line bus of Kerala State, or Tamil Nadu from the main bus stand.
Ola/Uber are also there but may not be easily available as per your needs all the time.

The only special tip I have to give is that when visiting Padmanabhaswamy temple, men have to wear dhotis and there should not be any upper cloth-like shirt, banian, etc. Women have to be dressed decently, preferably in Kerala style' settu' or normal Saree.
