  • Online and offline methods of linking the Aadhar card to the PAN card

Want to know how to link your Aadhar card to your PAN card? Know from experts the offline and online methods and the extension of the last date to do so.

Linking the Aadhar card to a PAN card is mandatory. The deadline was also extended for doing this. I would like to know the online option to link the Aadhar card and PAN card and also what is the last date for it. Are there any offline methods to do the linking?

  • There are two ways you can link PAN with Aadhaar.
    1. For this, no internet is required. You can do it offline. You can do it on your mobile. You can send an SMS with the mobile which you have registered in your Aadhaar Card. You and send SMS to 567678 or 56161. you have to type UIDPAN<12-digit Aadhaar><10-digit PAN> and send it to any of the two numbers mentioned.

    2. The second method is through online. You can do it on the income tax filing portal. The link is given below.
    https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html?

    Go to the Above link.

Provide the PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as mentioned in the Aadhaar card

There will be a square in which you have to tick if only your year of birth is mentioned on your Aadhaar card.
    Enter the Captcha code.
Click on the 'Link Aadhaar' button.

By doing this your PAN and Aadhaar will get linked.

The last date for linking these two is extended to 30 June 2020. This decision was announced recently due to the coronavirus pandemic. The previous date for Aadhaar-PAN linking was 31 March 2020.

  • For Online:

Visit income tax website https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home and click on option Link Aadhar and fill the required information i.e. PAN Number, Aadhaar Number, Name as per the Aadhaar Card and fill the capita code and select the checkbox in case of you have the only year of birth in Aadhaar card then click on Link Aadhar Button.

After certification from the UIDAI the linking will be done but if there is a mistake in DOB, Name Spellings then the linking will be failed. Please make ensure all names on Aadhaar and PAN must match. Only start linking process if you have Aadhaar card with complete Date of Birth i.e. DD/MM/YYYY instead of the only Year of Birth; to avoid linking failure.
