  • How to transfer the original pre-installed OS to a new SSD?

Unable to transfer the original OS in your laptop to the new SSD? Get quick technical step by step guidance on how to proceed for transferring the pre-installed OS of a laptop to a new solid-state drive (SSD).

I have bought ASUS X541U laptop and I am facing 100% disk problem during high load on the processor. One of my friends advised me to switch the OS to SSD. My laptop has pre-installed Windows 10 and I want it to be transferred to my SSD. How do I do that without losing the license version of my OS? How do I proceed?

  • This can be done but the process is quite elaborate and lengthy and I am afraid the help of the professional person might be required as there are certain settings to be incorporated through some third party softwares. Anyway, I am trying to give a brief of the procedure and other tasks to be done in this matter. As the existing hard disc in your laptop is not giving satisfactory performance it is time to replace it with a SSD (solid state drive).

First thing is you have to buy a compatible sized SSD from the market which can physically fit in the space where the present hard disc is fitted in your laptop. It should also be compatible with the interface softwares like SATA or IDE. For laptops these SSD drives come in generally 1.8 inch or 2.5 inch sizes and you have to select as applicable to your case. SSD is a solid state storage device just like the hard disc in its functionality but it is more stable and has a faster read/ write mechanism. It does not have moving disc like the traditional hard disc and in that way can be thought as akin to a pen drive.

Now you would need a third party software like 'AOMEI Partition Assistant' for carrying this transformation. There are other softwares also but this one has been used by people giving satisfactory results. You can explore more on that as different softwares are available for the purpose. This software is capable of cloning the present hard disc to new SSD and can make partition and port all the softwares and OS that are available in the present hard disc.

The AOMEI software is to be installed in the laptop and then the new SSD is to be connected and by running the program the instructions and settings are to be chosen. The program would guide step by step to clone the present hard disc to new SSD and make partition on this and transfer the OS to it. Once the settings are applied then laptop is to be rebooted and can be used efficiently with the new SSD.

    Knowledge is power.

  • There are numerous reasons why users show interest in the installation or moving Windows OS to SSD regimen. Some of the salient features are given below -
    1) More benefits noticeable with the use of new SSD-
    1) Faster boot speed normally takes not more than 20 secs to start the system.
    2) Faster programme launch speed on SSD can be observed especially in case of games, PS and other similar software.
    3) Better Data Protection while using the system disc is seen.If the system fails there will be no loss of the data.
    4) SSD does not produce noise and it is immune to the vibration and impact.
    2) A faster and safer way for OS migration -
Installing the SSD as the system disc is one of the ways in the process of upgradation of a computer. However, it is a time consuming process and the datas saved on C drive will disappear. So migration from OS to SSD is the best solution.
    3) How to migrate OS to SSD without Reinstalling -
This would need several programmes indicated below -
    1) SSD has to be prepared as the destination disc.
    2) The size of SSD should be greater or equal to the used disc space of the sourced disc.
    3) In case of important data on SSD,,this needs to be backed up to an external hard drive in advance.
    4) Download the reliable migration tool.
