Planning to give KEAM exam for medical and allied courses? Searching for guidelines, exam criteria, and the exam center etc.? Check out this Ask Expert page where our experts have responded to your query.

I apply only for medical and allied courses in KEAM 2020 and now admit card is not available for medical courses. So how will I appear for that exam and how can I know about the exam centre. Can We appear for the exam without admit card? Please provide necessary guidelines about that. Can you please explain about the exam criteria? Is there any other option for knowing exam centre for that who have applied for medical courses in KEAM?

  • NEET and KEAM are two types of Exam, KEAM is Engineering and Architecture and NEET is for Medical Exam. We do not need KEAM card for NEET. For NEET exam we need NEET UG to admit card for appearing. The admissions to government medical colleges require 85 per cent quota and it will be based on merit list which will be prepared and there we require the NEET UG score. Don't throw off the admit cards, keep the two admit cards safely in hands. We do not know when the scheduled entrance exam starts and when will be the result published.

  • NEET is an entrance examination for medical courses. This will be conducted on all India Basis. Any candidate who wants to admit to any medical course should apply for NEET and should get qualified in this Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical Courses (KEAM) is an entrance for admission in Engineering, Architecture and Medical courses. If you want to join in a Medical college in Kerala you have to apply for NEET as well as KEAM.
Did you apply for NEET? If you have not applied for NEET. you can't get admitted to medical courses even in Kerala also. The admission for medical colleges will be regulated on the basis of NEET rank.
After applying for KEAM online did you download the confirmation page. This is required now to asking the concerned regarding admit card.
You have to go to the facilitation centres that are available across the Kerala state and you have to download the admit card from the website. www.cee.kerala.gov.in. If you are not getting the admit card take the print out of the confirmation page of your application and show that to the officers available in facilitation centre. They may be able to help you.

  • NEET is an entrance examination for those interested to qualify the medical entrance test irrespective of the state from where the applicant belongs. But in case of appearing for the medical test for the state of Kerala, you have to follow the registration of both NEET and KEAM. This is an essential part of the registration.
In case, you have failed to apply for NEET and have registered for KEAM, it would be a futile process, your candidature for the medical test would be rejected.
The process is to download the confirmation page of KEAM and this needs to be produced before the officer of the facilitation centre along with print out photo copy of NEET so as to get your approval the medical test of the Kerala State.
Your selection would be based upon your performance in the NEET test.

  • The entrance examination KEAM does not cover the MBBS seats. It only mentions it in its prospectus. That is creating confusions in the minds of some students who are applying for KEAM entrance examination. If one wants to do MBBS then one has to go for NEET only. I went through the KEAM prospectus 2020 (Approved vide G.O (MS) No. 62/2020/HEDN. Dated Thiruvananthapuram 30.01.2020) and found the following clarification at the para 1.4 c) -

"1.4 c) Admission to Medical courses, Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary and Fisheries courses are regulated on the basis of merit as assessed in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET- UG 2020) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA)."

If they had given this clarification somewhere in the beginning in their advertisement for the KEAM entrance test then probably this confusion had not arisen in your case. Anyway, you have to prepare for NEET only to achieve your objective.
