    Can I apply Govt.job with Xerox certificate instead of original copy?

    My diploma original certificate is in my college.
    And I don't have a scanned copy also. But I have Xerox copyCan I apply a government job with this Xerox copy?
    During the document verification, I can submit the original certificates. But now I have only Xerox of my certificate.

    So please let me know that can I apply with this original certificate or not?

  • Please remember that one should not submit original certificates when you apply for a private job or a government job. Nobody will also ask. If you are applying physically and you are submitting the application by post you have to attach either attested photocopies or self-attested photostat copies only. If you are applying online you have to upload your certificates and then attache those uploaded certificates to your online application. For this also if you are not having an original certificate with you you can scan the xerox copy and upload the same and attach to your certificate.
    But please remember that you have to produce all original certificates at the time of document verification. There you can't manage with xerox copies. So you have to ensure that you will get the original by the time they will call you for document verification. It is very important that we should produce all the original documents at the time of document verification and there should not be any discrepancies in the certificates. This is very important for government jobs. MNCs and big private companies may also ask for original certificates verification before they give you appointment letter.

  • At the time of applying a job in Govt, you have to fill the form which is nowadays online only. After filling the form you would be asked to upload the documents by scanning it. Whether you have the original or xerox at this juncture, it does not matter as xerox copy would provide same digital copy. Once your documents are uploaded then you have to submit your application and you would get an acknowledgement that it is submitted.

    You say that your original degree is at the school so no problem and you get it from the particular school after completing the formalities there. Now at the time of document verification, one has to take the original mark sheets and original certificates to cross check the data given in the application form. The verification authorities will check the documents and once satisfied they would clear your candidature for the requisite task.

Your original certificate would include your passing out class ten board from a recognised institution followed by your class twelve certificate of the recognised board, Final Diploma Certificates, mark - sheets of class ten and twelve certificates and the charecter certificate issued by the your Polytechnic etc.
    Hence ensure that all such documents are available to you at the time of document - verification.

  • Nowadays most of the government exams regeneration is done online so there is no issue with that you do not having original one but if you are applying for the any post where documents should be send by post or courier then also not to worry as they will not ask for original in first phase of your exam, but once when you have cleared all phases and its time to go for final interview then you need to keep all original certificates which copy you have mentioned with the registration form. There is a process call document verification that will be conducted with your interview phase.
    So if you have original one at a safe place then no need to worry prepare for your exams first clear the all levels of the exam and then take these original certificates from that place , and it is an advice for you always keep your all original documents and IDs always at a safe place so you can find them at any time.
