  • Some Universities may accept candidates who are having experience in the relevant field and some publication for PhD admissions under Qualification improvement programme. Now you are a senior citizen. In which field you worked earlier and what is the experience you have, basing on this you can try.
Almost all the universities are not accepting candidates with less than 55% marks in the qualifying examination for PhD. SC/ST candidates will be considered with 50% marks also,

  • If you want to go for the program of PhD in Commerce and Management then you have to note the following eligibility criterion -

    1. Those persons are eligible who have completed their post-graduation degree in Commerce or M.Phil. degree with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks from a recognised university.
    2. You have to clear the UGC-NET examination for this.
    3. If one has 4 years experience in the relevant field it would help in seeking admission in the PhD program.

There are many universities and college where one can apply for the same and as your marks are falling short by 1% only, you can try for exemption based on the plea that you have a very good work experience. It is worth to try on that basis. The college authorities have some exemptions in their hands for outstanding candidates.

  • Thank you Dr. Roa for the information provided in Phd programming. Your information, there are universities which accept Phd programming , considering qualification improvement. Kindly let me know the Universities. For I could not find in google search such Universities.

  • As a general rule, you will be selected for the Ph.D programme in a reputed university if your marks secured in the Masters degree in the stream for which Ph.D is sought is not less than 55 percent. A concession to the extent of 5 percent is allowed for SC/ ST, Backward classes, Women candidates from the weaker section of the society etc
Since you are not fitting to the reserved category the only option left before you is to continue M.Phil course from a recognise university and make an attempt to secure at the least the minimum marks ( ie 55 percent at least) in that examination.
Once you achieve the threshold mark in M.Phil in your chosen stream, you will be considered for your Ph.D programme provide you clear the entrance test test set for this purpose apart from the interview of the panel experts assessing your passion, interest, your research ability and other capabilities.,
While filling up your application form, you may indicate the area where you are interested for perusing your Ph.D.

  • Thank you all.
