  • The full form of CLAT is known as Common Law Admission test and it is a national level law entrance examination being conducted by the consortium of the National Law University. Till date, there are 22 National Law Universities conducting conducting Common Law Admission test. The CLAT test is vital in the sense that the final scores are the basis for admission in 70 law schools depending upon the performance of the aspirants.
CLAT test is to be conducted for both undergraduate and postgraduate law admission.
CLAT UG is conducted for admission to 5 year Integrared Law Programme where as CLAT PG is conducted for admission to LLM programmes offered by the law colleges.
For UG programme, the test would cover English including Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs apart from versatility of Elementary Mathematics.
For PG programme, test would cover the syllabus taught in LLB level such as Administrative Law, Law of Contracts, Family Laws, Property Laws, Criminal Laws etc.
The duration of the test for both the programmes is two hours and the questions are of multiple choice types. It would be better for you to go through the previous year question papers so as be familiar with the pattern of the test. If possible, solve at least previous year question papers of last eight years and get it examined from your professor so as to get his review relating to your performance.

  • I think you are getting confused. A community certificate is a caste certificate. A community certificate is issued by the govt authority which shows that the candidate belongs to a particular caste or community like Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Castes or any other community.

There is no need to wait for passing 12th class and getting TC from your school. You will have to apply for this certificate to the respective State Government where you reside. State Government will issue the community/ caste certificate.

You must visit the Tehsil office in your area and get the application form for community certificate from there and submit after filling all the details like personal details, contact details and your father's caste details and requisite documents.

Alternatively, you can apply online on the district or state portal also.

You will have to attach the following documents with the application:
    1. Address proof
    2. Age proof
    3. Aadhar card
    4. Parents' caste certificate

After application review and proper verification, the State Government will issue a community certificate.

  • Caste certificate is issued by state govt. If you need caste certificate then you should apply state govt offices where you are having details of your permanent residence. You can apply through any mode whether online or offline as per your convenience. Now, all govt offices having online facility through which you can get your certificate easily.
After getting TC, If you are planning to apply for caste certificate. Then it would be wastage of time. Now, you are eligible to apply for that. Generally, state government offices provide caste certificate where you reside. You can get application form from tehsil office or SDM office which is located in your area. You will have to submit form after filling all the details like personal details, parents details and contact details. • If you belong to a scheduled backward or reserved community like SC, ST, or OBC etc then your parents must have that certification with them. Even in your school certificates like high school and character certificates it must be there. Anyway with all that information and valid proofs with you, now you can apply for caste certificate in your name by applying for it either in online or in the local sub divisional magistrate office or the designated office in your area. There is a standard procedure for applying for caste certificate and if your documents are in order it would not take much time.
Normally students belonging to the reserved communities already got their caste certificates and why in your case you did not have it surprises us but it is still not late and please get it on priority and then upload it in the CLAT site while applying for that entrance exam.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

  • There is no relation between Caste Certificate and TC.
There is no necessity of TC for obtaining caste certificate. A person who doesn't have any education also may require a caste or community certificate. So don't be under the impression that without TC obtaining caste certificate is difficult. You can get your caste certificate from the Revenue Department. You have to approach your MRO office. You will have to apply for Community certificate there. You have to take a copy of your birth certificate, and the community certificate of your parents. Aadhaar card also required. If you don't have a birth certificate from the village authority and you have to obtain your birth certificate. Then you have to go to MRO and apply for community/caste certificate.
