President vs Prime Minister in the USA and India

India is the largest democracy in the world. The United States of America is the oldest democracy. Both are democratic republic countries only. There are some differences in the way they function.
1. In India there are many national parties. But in the USA there will be only two political parties. They are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
2. In India all the voters will elect their Member of Parliament on the basis of the party. The party which is having the majority number of MPs will become the ruling party and their leader will be the Prime Minister. He will select ministers from his party MPs. Prime Minister will be the elected head of the government in India. The MPs will be in power for 5 years. If the party loses his strength in Lokshabha, the Prime Minister has to resign,
In the USA citizens cast their vote in every state to elect members of the electoral college. These members of the electoral college will cast electoral votes to elect their President. The President will be the elected head of the government. The term of the president is 4 years. President will form the government. President is not dependent on the strength of his party in the legislative body.
3. The Prime MInister in India can't ignore the decision of the legislative. But the President of the USA has the power to say No the recommendations of the congress.
4. The USA is a federal system. Each state will have its own constitution. Power is shared between the federal government and the state government. Each state will work as an independent country.
In India, the whole country is having only one constitution. India is not 100% federal. At the same time, it is not 100% unitary. It can be considered as a federal structure with a strong unitary bias. India is a union of states. But they are not independent 100%.

Different countries have different governing systems. In some there are Presidents while other places it is Prime Minister. In some places even the chairman or secretary of the communist party governs the country. Further, some have a monarchy where a king rules. So, based on the cultural backdrop and history of the country a system is adopted there. In US we do not have a Prime Minister as the form of Govt is shaped in a Presidential form from the rock bottom from where the electoral process starts. They have a political system under the Presidentship. The states there have their own governors and not chief Ministers like our country. In India the concept is totally different and we have a President as well as a Prime Minister and our system is based more and less on the British style as they were here for a long time and we have adopted so many things from them including our political system. It is only later that we had made many changes in it as per the local conditions of this country and slowly it is taking a more Indian shape then that of a British impact. In our country the roes and regulations are passed by the parliament and the President approves them. He can of course send them back for a review also. Our system is totally different than that of the US where only two parties are there and they vie with each other in elections.

India and US both are demoractic states but system of governance is quite different because US has presidential system of governance whereas India has parliamentary system.
- In India President is a titular ruler who has all powers but he doesnot use powers , instead prime minister uses all his powers but in US there is no prime minister and President is the real ruler of the country.
- The name of the contestants for President office is known to people prior to elections whereas in India prime minister name is not declared before elections. Winning party or alliance elect their candidate for prime minister office.
- US and Indian presidents both are commander in chief of their three forces but Indian prime minister uses the power of commander in chief, although he is not holding this office.
- Term of US President is 4 years whereas Indian PM remains on office till 5 years.
- Impeachement may be brought against US President but there is no clause as such in the matter of Indian PM, however, No Confidence motion may be brought against the government.
- US President has to take both houses in confidence before going for war or attacking against enemy country whereas Indian PM is not bound to do so.
- If US President is impeached or resigns himself Vice President will become as President whereas if Indian PM resigns whole of the government will be dissolved.

India and the US both govt is known for the democratic system. The fundamental difference between the Indian Government and the U.S. Government is that India has a Parliamentary form of Government whereas, the U.S. Government has a Presidential form of Government.In Parliamentary form of Government, the Prime Minister shall be appointed as head of the Government, whereas, in case of Presidential form of Government, the President would be the head of Government.
•In the Indian govt system, the majority of the power is vested in the Prime Minister whereas, In
the case of the U.S., the President is the most powerful authority. Both the Indian Parliament and the US Congress are bicameral.
•US Congress is divided into two parties whereas, in Indian parliamentary, there is no limit for the party.
•US president's term is for 4 years whereas the Indian prime minister's term is for 5 years.
• In the US, the states can share power with the federal government and make independent decisions. India is the union of States. So, it is not fully independent to take a decision.
•US President is not dependent on the strength of his party in Congress. US president remains in power for the four years of his term unless he is impeached or incapacitated. In the Indian parliamentary, the government can lose the mandate if its majority fail to prove in the Lok Sabha in the event of a no-confidence motion. This result leads to the mid-term election.

The post of the President of the United States of America is extremely important and influential in terms of power and honor in the executive of the world. The President of America is elected every 4 years. The framers of the US Constitution have decided the presidential election process after adequate deliberation. In the United States, the President is elected by the electoral college. In which as many members are elected from every state of America as are elected in the House of Representatives and the Senate, the people of America vote in the name of the President. These members, elected from every state, gather in their state capital one day on the scheduled date and elect the President from among the presidential candidates.

1. Legislative powers and functions - He has the most important power in this area to enforce federal laws and maintain order. The US President can request Congress to make new laws and regulations. The US President also has the right to approve or not to approve any law passed by Congress.

2. The executive powers of the President of America hold a very important position. The US President leads the country abroad. He determines the foreign policy of America and makes it foreign. He directs all administrative work as the Chairman of the Executive.
3. Right to Pardon - Like the heads of government of other states of the world, the President of America has the right to pardon. One can postpone a death sentence given to a person. Group offenders can also give mass clemency to multiple persons receiving the same type of punishment. But the President cannot forgive a person who is punished by impeachment.
4. Powers and Work in Crisis - In times of crisis, the US President becomes even more powerful. He becomes the master of infinite powers when the situation of internal disturbance, economic crisis, and war arises.

The federal executive head of the Indian constitution is the President. He is the nominal executive head. The executive powers are exercised by the Cabinet. The President of India may be named as the head of the American executive, but his powers and role are different from the American President. His position is not the same as that of the American President but similar to the British Emperor. The role of the President in the Indian parliamentary system of governance is that of a formal head.
