  • If you have chosen MLT group at your intermediate stage, it an be said that you have taken a wise decision for your further persuasion of course such as Diploma in laboratory technician, B.SC in MLT or even you can join some certification courses. The duration of course would vary depending upon your selection of such courses. B.SC in MLT is a degree course offered by many eminent Institutions consisting of three year duration but in case of Diploma in MLT, the duration of the course would be of two years duration.

    Once you complete your graduation, you will have many chances to join as a technologist in any clinical laboratories. Even with your intermediate, some may offer you a technician post. But I suggest you continue your intermediate with MLT and join B.Sc. The health services requirements are increasing the world over as the population increases and you will have plenty of chances to get employed in a good corporate hospital. If you have interest even you can go for a PG course also.

  • After completing your class XII with MLT (Science stream) you have a good scope in the field of Medical Lab Technology. You can think of going for diploma in Medical Lab Technology or a UG degree (B.Sc.) in it. There is a good demand of Medical Lab Technicians in healthcare industry and the students who complete their diploma or B.Sc. course in Medical Lab Technology are eligible to apply for those positions where there is a good career in this line.

    The Medical Lab Technician does the job of clinical lab testings and supports the doctors and surgeons in their diagnosis and treatment of the patients. Medical Lab Technician is basically a paramedical position and are hired by many hospitals, laboratories, and pharmaceutical companies. They are generally given responsible work in the workplaces like Blood Bank, Pathology lab, Biochemistry lab, and Microbiology lab.

    The diploma course in MLT is of 2 years while B.Sc. course is of 3 years duration. In diploma programmes the admissions are generally done through the merit of class XII marks but for admission in B.Sc. course one has to appear in the entrance test.

    The students who have passed their class XII in science stream and secured at least 40% marks in it are eligible for the diploma course and those who have secured at least 50% marks in class XII are eligible to appear in the entrance exam for the B.Sc. MLT course. Entrance test would be either State-level or University-Level depending on the college where one is seeking admission. After the test is over the candidates based on their merit will be called for counselling session.

As you know, lab technician is more in demand in all health sector.
