  • MBA after NIOS Senior Secondary

Planning to study MBA after graduation? Want to know if one can study this after doing NIOS senior secondary? On this page our experts have responded to your query.

I would like to know if I will be eligible to apply for MBA after doing NIOS, But UG is already done before doing NIOS.

I have completed my SSLC in 2010 and i did B.A from Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya Distance education in 2015. Since i had not completed my 12th at that time the university suggested to me to a bridge course of 6 months, BPP (Bachelor Preparatory program) which is similar to the one which IGNOU offers after i did that i was eligible to apply and finish my 3 years UG from the university. University is UGC, AIU and DEB Approved.

Now, i wanted to do my MBA and universities are asking for +2 certificate since i don't have one i thought of doing NIOS now in 2021. If join NIOS Senior Secondary and write exam in next year of april that is 2022 will i be eligible to apply for MBA? The reason why i am having
this doubt is that the universities are asking for 10+2+3 pattern, now since i am doing this NIOS after my UG will i still be eligible to apply for MBA distance education? I have completed my UG in 2015 and will be completing the NIOS in 2022, So basically i will be doing my Senior
Secondary after completing the UG, Will i be eligible for MBA with this pattern of qualification?

I tried contacting University of Madras, Annamalai University, Alagappa University none of them are picking up the call, I tried contacting the study centers and i am getting mixed answers. I am not able to get an assured answer for anywhere. Any clarification on this would be highly appreciated.

  • There are universities that are offering MBA to candidates who completed their graduation. Many universities never ask for a 10 + 2 +3 pattern. But the admissions may be based on the admission test conducted by the university. You have to search on the internet and get the names of the universities where they are not insisting on the 12th certificate.
It is a good idea to attend NIOS and complete the course so that you can fulfil the 10 +2 + 3 pattern also. Even though you complete NIOS after MBA, there may not be any problem. So you can go ahead.

  • If you are interested to continue your MBA through the distance education, you would not face problem of similar nature. They would approve of your continuation of your MBA course after the verification of your degree of graduation. They would verify whether the degree procured is UGC approved or not.
To have the better idea relating to your admission through the distance education, you can contact the officials of the following universities-
    1) Indira Gandhi National Open University.
    2) Utkal University
    3) Annamalai University
    4) Karnataka Open University
    5) Kota Open University etc
However, it would best on your part to take up the course of NIOS for the compliance of 10+2 +3 pattern. In that way, there would not be any objection from the side of the employers if you join any company after completing your MBA course.

  • I think you can attach the certificates pertaining to your 6 months bridge course that is BPP (Bachelor Preparatory program) along with your 3 years UG degree course certificate and then they would either admit you based on the merit of UG or through the entrance exam depending on the institute where you want to take admission in MBA. The idea of bridge course is to ignore the class 12 exam and you can mention that in the remarks column of your MBA admission form whether online or physical mode depending again on the institute where you are planning to take admission.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

  • As you have already done your UG through the NIOS-BPP route, I believe that you are eligible for applying for the MBA course. Many reputed institute have their own entrance test for the MBA while some of them take candidates based on their score in CAT/CMAT/MAT etc. There are many other universities also where this course is conducted and some of them take the candidates directly based on the marks obtained in the graduation course. One can try in them for admission.

There are many colleges inout country where direct admission to MBA are granted and some of them are -
    1. UPES School of Business, UPES University, Dehradun.
    2. Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad.
    3. Jaypee Business School, Noida.
    4. NSB Academy, Bangalore.
    5. ITM Navi Mumbai, Kharghar.
    6. Kohinoor Business School, Mumbai.
    7. Sri Balaji University, Pune.
    8. Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management, Hyderabad.
    9. Globsyn Business School, Kolkata.
    10. Narayana Business School, Ahmedabad.
    11. Rajalakshmi School of Business, Chennai.
