  • You can study for any degree before you go for your B.Ed. BA or BSc or B Com or even B.Tech/B.E. Based on your graduation, you can decide the subjects that you can select in your B.Ed.
You are interested in B.Com or BA, You can take any of the two and complete your graduation. After that, you have to attend an entrance test for B.Ed, Based on the rank you obtained in the entrance test you can select the B.Ed college.
After completing your B.Ed, you can attend the Common Entrance test and once you are qualified in that you will get the teacher post in the government school. You can do BA even as a private candidate and then B Ed on distance mode while you work in any private school as a teacher.

  • Many people like the teaching profession and there are many ways to become a teacher after acquiring the academic qualifications. One can become a teacher in primary school or high school or higher secondary school after the UG and B.Ed. combination. One can even become a lecturer in a college after the combination of necessary qualifications like PG, NET, and/or PhD. For teaching in a school B.Ed. is the main qualification that is given due consideration in selection process and it is necessary to do B.Ed. in the desired subject. Before that one has to go for UG in the appropriate subjects so that he can take corresponding subjects in ones B.Ed.

B.Ed. is 2 years course and during this one learns many aspects of education from teaching point of view and proficiency in ones subject is also enhanced during the period. The course is generally in regular mode but some institutes offer correspondence course also. The eligibility of candidate for this course is that they should have at least a UG degree with at least 50% / 55% (depending on the institute) marks and if the candidate is PG then he should have secured at least 55% marks. Then only the candidate can apply for it either on merit basis or entrance test which depends on the institute as in which mode it admits the students in B.Ed.

There are many subjects out of which one of the subjects can be selected by the candidate in B.Ed. for specialisation so that he can teach in that particular subject. These subjects are covered under the broad category that is Economics, Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, Home Science, Science subjects, Political Science etc. You have to choose your specialisation subject out of that depending upon your interest. In your case you can opt for Economics also as mentioned by you in your query.

In addition to your special subject you will be studying many other subjects which will help you in becoming a perfect teacher. These subjects are Basics in Education, Strengthening Language Proficiency, School Management, Schooling, Socialisation, and Identity, Guidance & Counselling, Computer Education, Developing Teacher Sensibilities, Child Psychology, Methodology of Teaching, Co-curricular activities in school and e-education, Education for Peace, Teacher Training Internships & Practicals, Understanding Teacher Learning Situations, and Environmental Studies.

  • Teaching is highly respectable and commendable profession in society and I salute to all teachers who are working hard to change the society. If you dream of becoming a teacher as home tutors and coaching tutors then no such degree is required but knowledge and interactive skills are must. But if you go for jobs then B.ed degree is must but some private schools are not concerning B ed but they also ask for post graduation courses generally PGT teachers. Moreover nowadays colleges are offering integrated courses which refers that with undergraduate course you can pursue B.ed and advantage of this course is that it can be completed withing 4 but if you go for undergraduate and Bed course separatelg then there you have to spend 5 years. Bed course also consists of internships in lats year where you are appointed at government schools so that you can develop practical knowledge with theoretical knowledge.
