  • Can I take BSc General and still pursue MSc Virology?

Is it possible to pursue PG in Virology after UG general? Looking out for details about the eligibility criteria for PG Virology program? On this page you can find advice from our experts for your question.

I am going to take admission in BSc General with following subjects: Zoology, Microbiology and Life Science.
After BSc I want to pursue MSc Virology. I want to know if I am eligible for MSc Virology after graduating from BSc General?
I also did some research regarding MSc Virology eligibility and I found that you have to do Honors either in Bsc Zoology,Bsc Life science,Bsc microbiology etc. But unfortunately my college doesn't provide Bsc Honors in any above mention subjects.
Please guide me before I take wrong path.

  • With your pass course with the combination of Zoology, Microbiology and Life Science, you would not face any problem in relation to your M.Sc course in Virology. It is quite possible that you have not gathered full information how you can be admitted in Virology in the Post Graduation.
You need to refer to different institutions where there is no such restriction that an aspirant should have a honours degree in the B.Sc stage with anyone of subjects as mentioned above.
Most of the institutions follow the following admission criteria-
The aspirant should have passed graduation with the related subjects such as Zoology, Microbiology, Life Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry etc at least securing 50 percent marks in the three subjects selected in their graduation stage.
The admission in some reputed institutions are conducted on the basis of entrance examination except a few where they would look into your marks earned in your final examination of B.Sc.
There are a few institutions given below asking to appear for the entrance tests as indicated below-
    1) Manipal University- Karnataka
    2) Sri Venkateswara College- Tirupati
    3) Savitribai Phule University- Pune
Amity University is a distinguished institution providing you admission on the basis of your marks obtained in you graduation stage. Your marks should be so much impressive that you are included in the merit list of admission procedure.
Hence you should make your attempt to go through the question sets of the previous years of the said institutions for at least seven years so that you could understand their patterns. You may take guidance from some of the prominent institutions to get the valuable tips in cracking the test. You should be careful while attempting the objective questions since wrongly answered questions attract negative marketings. A lower ranking will deprive you of a seat of a distinguished institution.
