  • You can do B.Tech/B.E Mechanical or production Engineering after completing the diploma in tool and die engineering. But your diploma should be of 3-year duration and should be recognised as equivalent to polytechnic. The institute that is offering the diploma should be a recognised institute by the state technical education board and the admission into that should be carried out as per the procedure laid down by the state technical education board.
You will be given admission to the 2nd year of 4 years BE/B.Tech course. There will be a common entrance test for the admissions within the state and based on the rank obtained in the entrance test you will be allotted a seat. Your engineering degree will be completed in 3 years.
Please see the details of the entrance test in your state and get prepared for that after completing your Diploma.

  • Mechatronics is relatively a new branch dealing with the combination of three branches infused together to make a single branch. It has been designed to benefit Mechanical Engineers needing a sound concept of electronics and computers while designing their mechanical layout. At present, there is a lot of demand for such Engineers having acquired this degree.
Since you are doing a Diploma in Tool and Die Engineering, you have to ensure that your diploma must be from a recognised institution and should be minimum of three years duration. These institutions are recognised by the State Technical Board of the different states. If the same has acquired this status, there would not be any problem in going ahead for this degree course of engineering. You will be admitted to the second year of Engineering of the four year Engineering Programme.
However, you have to ensure that you should secure at least 75 % marks consistently during three year of academic career in diploma so that your entry to the degree course is accepted at ease. If needed, the admission committee may ask you to appear for a written test followed by the oral interview of the members on the Board. Hence you need to have basic concepts of the diploma being pursued by you apart from your effective communication skill to impress the Board.
