  • Yes. You can transfer from one college to another college. The following points are for your information.
    1. The transfer to another college can happen only at the beginning of the academic year.
    2. Before changing to another college, you should complete all the subjects of the 1st year.
    3. The Principal of the college you are presently studying and the principal of the college in which you are going to join should give their consent for your admission.
    4. You have to send your application to the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.
    5. The college where you are going to join should have a vacancy within their sanctioned strength.
    6. The transfer should be to the same branch of your present study and no change in the branch will be accepted.
    7. Mere applying with the consent of principals will not ensure you the transfer. The directorate of technical education will be the final authority to decide on this.
    8. Even though you apply at the beginning of the year, you have to continue in the present colleges till you get an order from the directorate sanctioning the transfer.
    9. Private colleges may ask you to pay the fee for all four years if you want a transfer.
    10. Your college will tell you the details regarding the application form and other enclosures to the application form for applying for a transfer.

  • All the colleges in a state are under the administration of Director, Education or Director, Technical Education whatever be the case maybe. Now any transfer from one college to another has to be executed under that authority so that colleges cannot misuse that facility for favouring a candidate in any such way.
The process of transfer thus becomes complicated as it involves three agencies that is the college that the student wants to leave and the college where he wants to get admission for continuation of his course further and the authority that is Director Technical Education.
It is obvious that one has to apply for this quite early as the process will take considerable time and in most of the cases as there will be no vacancy available in the second college it will be denied by them and then one will have to try in another college.
It makes sense to first approach the second college and get some confirmation about the admission and then only initiate the process for transfer.
There are so many good engineering colleges in Tamilnadu and one can find the best ones by going through the national ranking of institutes like NIRF 2021. After shortlisting the college of interest one should first enquire about admission there and if there is any hope for that then only initiate the process of transfer from one college to that particular college.
There are financial considerations also and some of the one time fees will have to be deposited by the student again.
Considering all these points and taking cognizance of all the facts one can start the process of transfer from one college to another.

    Knowledge is power.

  • Though the transfer of an aspirant continuing any stream in an Engineering College might appear difficult at the initial stage but the same can be effected but there are certain conditions to be followed by the aspirants interested for the change from one college to the other -
    1) First of all, you have to look out an Engineering College where the Principal of the same college agrees to your proposal regarding the changing over. Of course, he would assess the strength of the candidates in the particular stream for which you want to have your admission. If at all, there is vacancy of a seat in the same stream, he might agree for such an adjustment.
    2) There will be final approval of AICTE for such a change over.
    3) Admission will take place in the same stream being followed in the earlier Engineering College.
    4) Principal of your current Engineering College should agree to release you in the event of the new adjustment.
    5) You have to write an application to the university indicating the mutual agreement of the Principals of the two colleges and for which there is the approval of AICTE.
    6) Your present Engineering College might ask you for the full tuition fee for the entire four year session and other fees as decided by the college management prior to getting released.
